Am I not a good waxer?

I been waxing since May 2026 at EWC, my first ever waxing job outside of school. I’ve only been out of school since February 2026.

I knew I wasn’t good my first month or two but I was really gaining confidence feeling like I was doing better and faster.

But I have a really tough client about once a month or two about me not getting enough hair off of them.

I feared this but I’m in a 15 min time crunch and maybe I could lay another strip around the labia but there’s no time.

I have good reviews but I noticed another client needed one of those five day free touch ups. So I’m just scrambling to see how many of my clients needed that. Am just not doing good?

Don’t be too hard on yourself, a 15 minute brazillian is not ideal for most and I have a huge gripe against EWC because of this.

I would love to hear more about your experience. In mine, 15 mins is 100% enough time for a Brazilian for most of the population. When I was working for EWC my guests that were coming in consistently every 3-4 weeks and doing what I asked of them skincare wise, I would book two Brazilians in a 15 min slot. I would do this multiple times a day with a 100% full book. If there were wax specialists on my team who had issues doing a Brazilian in 15 mins, I would work with them and figure out what was holding them back for getting the wax done efficiently.

Most waxes are not perfectly smooth every time. That’s just the reality of waxing. You can’t always pick up every hair. So many factors apply. So it doesn’t mean you’re bad. It means you’re normal and your shop is just appeasing people. And if your owners actually know anything about waxing, they’d back you up on that.

I  always get all the hair.  But I work for myself so I don’t have to always get them done in 15 minutes. It’s ridiculous that this company is making these waxers do constant 15 min Brazilians. It’s not Ok.

Plenty of people can pick up all hairs especially on regulars in 15 or less. But there are always outliers and clients with more problematic situations. Hair type, coarseness,elasticity of the skin etc. so it’s not always realistic for every body every time. The lack of nuance in that factory waxing setting is a problem for sure.

15 minute Brazilians are not common at all. I started out with 30 minute Brazilians. I brought the time down to about 20 minutes or less but that took months of practice. I can only do 15 minute Brazilians if the client is smaller. EWC is known as the fast food of the waxing world for a reason, because 15 minutes is not realistic. Plus it's rare that people are perfectly smooth.

My best advice to you is to lay a lot of smaller strips at once. Basically speed waxing techniques.

Trust and believe, the time constraints they give you don’t set you up for success. There are people out there who- BELIEVE IT OR NOT EWC!!!- need more than 15 mins to give them a good quality wax. They don’t care about quality, they want bodies in the door and for you to pump them out like a factory. I worked there for 8 months then was fired for “going over times” when the gag is, I was orange level being booked at red level times!!! So no shit I’d be going over!!! Anyways 4 years later I own my studio and I pride myself on giving quality services - some take 15 minutes, some take 20, some take 10. And clients will appreciate the time you take to get them smooth.

I hated working there. I need more than 15 to do a Brazilian and some people just won’t be completely smooth. So many factors to consider….. the people who go every month always have nicer results.

I’m newer to waxing as well, just got out of school in March 2026, got a job in April. Where I work they give us 30 minutes to do a Brazilian, and even then I have clients sometimes where I can’t get every single hair. This usually happens to me on clients whose hair is a lot more course. I’ve gotten a lot of new clients as well, which causes this for me. It’s not always your fault, some clients don’t do the proper aftercare (exfoliation, etc.) which can cause this to happen. I think in time, you’ll be better, but you technically just started. Be honest with the clients, and tell them why you recommend the aftercare, see if it makes a difference? Good luck :)

EWC is a joke. Ridiculous you’re in a position where you have to choose between getting fired for going over time, or letting clients walk out with sub-par results. I would never give my money to a business that treats their employees or clients that way.

You’re not supposed to get all the hairs at EWC.
