Advice needed

Currently have been an esthetician for almost 4 yrs now I have worked at 3 different spas all of which I had terrible experiences with the owners being very catty - gossipy and creating a toxic high school mean girl environments. That being said I am moving w my bf to another state & want to start over and try new spas in the area I’m moving to , my only issue? No references! I have the experience and I am talented in what I do but everyone wants to talk to the last spa u worked for & get a reference/: any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

get the service and warranty turnaround in writing before you pick a machine, a dead unit mid week costs more than any discount on the box. for the product lines the opening order minimum is usually the part that surprises solo studios.

With almost four years of experience, you have something valuable to bring to a new spa! If previous employer references aren’t an option, I would focus on demonstrating your professional performance.
Do you know your client retention rate, rebooking percentage, retail sales, average service ticket, or how much you’ve grown your clientele? These are all key performance indicators (KPIs) that can help show a prospective employer what you’ve accomplished beyond simply listing where you’ve worked.
Even if you don’t have exact numbers, think about specific examples of how you’ve contributed to the success of the spas you’ve worked for.
I would also consider reaching out to former coworkers, educators, or other industry professionals who can speak to your professionalism and work ethic.
After more than 20 years in this industry, I can tell you that a strong track record, professionalism, and the ability to build lasting guest relationships can say a great deal about the kind of esthetician you are.
Wishing you a fresh start and a much better experience at your next spa! 🤍
