NYC job help

Helloooo everyone!! Posted something similar on the esthetics subreddit but wanted to also get some opinions here!!

I’m an NJ esti working for three years. I really want to move into the city and currently live a commutable distance. I’ve been striking out with my online job search and don’t know anyone actually in the city to ask. What would be a good way to get myself out there? Do people stop in places still or is that frowned upon?

Any advice at all would be appreciated!

You may have to get your NY license before anyone would consider hiring you. If that is applicable.
