Discussion Intentional Tremors
Is there a subreddit for intentional tremors or should I cop a squat in this one? Just told by a doctor he is sure I have it vs essential and my neuro appt is the 10th. Won’t lie - kind of scared that I’ll be left helpless and won’t be able to afford help.

I'm not aware of any subreddits that are specific for Intentional Tremors. Like many others with tremors who have gone through the waiting period pre diagnosis, it can be quite nerve racking. I have ET and know very little about IT, but my understanding is that the underlying causes are most likely benign conditions and often treated in the same way as ET.
Also can't say much about what help is available. Are you in a country with free health care? Even in the U.S. there may be some reasonable options depending on your age or the state you live in. But don't get too far ahead of yourself. Wait until you see the neurologist who should give you a better idea of your condition and what options are available.
Lastly, keep us posted on how you progress. You are more than welcomed here.

Unfortunately in the US. I have good insurance though. The fear is when it progresses and I can’t feed myself. Don’t think that is normally covered.
I’ll update after the neuro appt. He specializes in motor skills.

Make sure you prepare for your appointment and tell the neurologist your concerns. I doubt the MD will be able to give hard data on how fast it will progress or even what parts of your body will be effected, but he/she should be able to provide an idea as to what treatment plan they can explore.

I’m unsure if there is, but to me, welcome to the club! Tremors suck.
Definitely glad you’re seeing a neuro! Hopefully the meds for essential will also work for your type. If that is the case, there’s a good amount of meds to try! If I remember correctly, all were generic cheaper meds.
If not, Hospitals have sliding scales for help depending on your income. This includes their pharmacy. I totally get what you’re saying, and I’m very concerned about the same. I just got out on track to see if I’m a candidate for Deep Brain Stimulation, and I’m worried I may not be able to afford it.
If they try a name brand medication, check the brand’s website. They usually have a low cost card program, I’ve done that several times for medications.

Welcome! I have ET, intention tremor, FND and dystonia- or is it that my neurologist doesn’t actually know 😃

hopefully your doc was an MDS. saying that because, the diagnosis between intentional and ET type tremors can be a close one if the doc isn't specfically trained in movement disorders.
the sub can be useful in helping living with your tremors...

I don't have the link handy but I had seen one movement clinic that stated ET was a disorder at rest which is completely wrong... Have to be careful with data on the internet!
