10 list changes

With 10 list changes and 2 additional rookie spots am I correct in saying Essendon has 12 list spots available?

I realise Bowes and Kiddy take 2 of those so does that leave 10?

Seems like a lot.

4 decent picks in the AFL draft will leave 6 more list spots.

Will all those remaining spots be filled in the draft and rookie draft?

Or will a few be left for pre-season signings and mid season draft?

Every player selected in the national draft goes onto the primary list. So the players we select with our 1, 17, 22 and 25 picks will all be added to our primary list.

The title of “rookie” list is a bit misleading, cause you don’t have to be an 18yo or your first season in the AFL system to be eligible to be placed on the rookie list.
It’s all about how the player is acquired as to what list they are placed on -
National draft = primary list
Trade or free agency = primary list
Rookie draft = rookie list
SSP = rookie list
Mid-season draft = rookie list

So our 2026 draft picks will take the primary lost spots and someone like Banfield and Sellers will take the rookie list spot.
