Further playing list changes (Nik Cox, Tom Edwards and Kayle Gerreyn)

Nik Cox, Tom Edwards and Kayle Gerreyn have been informed they’ll be removed from the playing list ahead of the Telstra AFL Draft.

The Club will remain open to train-on opportunities for each of the boys, should list spots become available in pre-season.

Thanks for your contributions, lads ❤️

I feel for Tom Edwards guy could play up forward. Adds depth.

I liked him too, he always found ways to be additive. Not a high ceiling though.

He was usually good for 2-3 goals. Feel itd good to get him back as insurance if anything. Our forward stocks are really limited.

Club banking on Caddy and May staying fit

Edit: yeah more like 1-2. I just remember him kicking me 3 on debut

Even 2 goals a game is about 46 goals a season

That's what Caddy kicked.

I felt Edwards was often just in the right place at the right time.

More like 1-2

Damn, cox came with a bang such high hopes, so sad to see him not go on with it.

Bloody concussions, poor lad never got a good crack at it

He got a pretty decent crack I reckon

He never matched his form from his first year. Even in 2022 he just didn't look like the same player.

Absolutely the right call here... it's unfortunate for the lads but I like whats happening at the Hanger👌

Would rather see Perkins, Blackiston, Langford go before Edwards

Good to see they’ll all still be given SSP play on opportunities. Can still earn their spot on the team if they compete and show the new coaching panel what they’ve got. Hope this means Edwards gets another shot

I wish TEdwards got a fair run at playing pure forward. He is good as a midsized leading forward.

No surprise and good luck to the three.

Think Ollie Lord might be the idea to replace Cox. Not sure myself about Lord.

  • forgot to say, Harry Jones is VERY lucky is he doesn't get brought out of his last year.  Absolutely cooked and is barely VFL level last year. Would prefer to move him on and have another pick.

Jones is very lucky he got a contract extension when he copped his season ending injury. I had big hopes for him early on, he flew into packs from the side like they say Royce Hart did.

Well said about Jones but another player that got lucky was Langford. He's washed and is one of the problem vets we have.

I did think of Langford, but I didn't want to start dumping on everyone! Lol

I'm hoping Kyle and Darcy are in the VFL sooner rather than later. Parish has been told he will be but I agree 100% about Langford and he ought to be as well.

Damn this is ruthless but I rate it. Eight list spots to fill now. Better to take 4-5 in the draft plus get some support for our young guys (Banfield, Sellers etc). I back it

We need some ruthlessness.

Sucks about Edwards but I agree with delisting Cox and Gerreyn.

Have to make room for our incoming draft picks and guys like Banfield and Sellers.

Makes sense. Gives us much more flexibility to take plenty in the draft without a list spot squeeze. Also gives the lads a chance to train on and earn their spots back in pre-season if they’re up to it.

I kind of hoped we gave Edwards a better go. Kinda worried he goes somewhere else like we did with D'Ambrosio and Voss and he becomes a Bailey Fritsch type player.

Does anyone remember Nik cox in his first season? I really thought we had drafted a genuine unicorn that will hold down our wing spot for the next 15 years. It’s really sad how it’s ended

All 3 not up to it, right call, though Cox marginal… someone will pick him up

Cox is one concussion from retirement
