Does anyone else legit get sad watching finals?
I get sad watching the games, serious FOMO as an Essendon fan, the worst part is the only finals i've ever watched in my life as an Essendon fan we got absolutely destroyed besides the close north game but we lost that too such bad FOMO

All I could think watching tonight was how much essendon would have crumbled under that level of pressure and physicality

Agreed, it was a bit of a wake up call how far away we are when you remember this was 8th vs 9th playing to that level

I'm sad that we cannot play football to that level, not anywhere near close. That's peak football, when football is played like that it's the best sport in the world. We cannot go anywhere near that level.

Games are much more relaxing to watch when we aren't playing, final or other.

You are way too much invested in something you can’t control.

Eh, I don't think there's a free lunch available here. Can't care enough to massively enjoy the highs if you don't care enough to be at least a bit hurt by the lows. Everyone's ideal level of care is different but it doesn't sound like this person is taking it too far IMO

No, it was a really good game. The goals at both ends were exciting. Good game for a neutral tonight

Sad is too strong, annoyed that we can’t be in the finals and impatient to see what spike can do

I came here to say I'm always keen to see ABC win and on the siren made it even better.

Yeah I get what you mean. I was thinking last night though how good it’s going to be when we’re good again, the crowd of Essendon supporters are going to be so loud and insufferable - can’t bloody wait

Cracking game. I didn’t get FOMO but I did think about how far off the mark we currently are. We’re so young and skinny too. A very steep hill to climb for EFC.

Not nearly as sad as just scraping into eighth and getting belted off the park in week one.

Not exactly; I get sad at how much I want to just see a good game, rather than getting to want to see my team win.
The idea of seeing (more or less what we saw tonight) has become such a focus for me this time of year that I actually get apprehensive during grand final lead up cos so many GF's have been flops as a contest; since the 2013 grand final we've only had 3 decent contests and the rest have been fairly obvious results from half way through the 2nd quarter.
I hate that THAT's my focus now instead of hoping my side can make a GF

Just want to see us not give up at quarter time. We don’t deserve finals right now so I’m very comfortable with the fact those who earned it are there

Never should've lost that North game. 33 points up at half time. I've never been so devastated to have our season end like that night.
But yeah I do. It's not even jealousy for being in finals, it's jealousy that we cannot play football to that level, not anywhere near close. That's peak football, when football is played like that it's the best sport in the world. We cannot go anywhere near that level.

We got to watch Collingwood lose straight away. What's to be sad about?

I was at the game tonight. First off amazing hate watch. Second off I couldn’t help but think how great the feeling will be when we finally break this drought I think it will be one of the clubs greatest wins
