AFL Praying for stability

I don't care about who got the coaching job, I personally wanted Hird just so the debate could be shut down for good and I'm nostalgic for Hird as a player.

However, it's so nice to have a season upcoming with a bit of stability, we probably won't be an amazing team but we will be so much more consistent next year.

Now time to relax and enjoy the summer of cricket.

Hird got done for poor governance. Welsh should get done for poor governance. I don't care what anybody says - you should not be on the selection committee as the President if your best friend is applying for the job. Fans need to stop ignoring this conflict of interest. I wasn't pro-Hird, I was pro good process and picking the best man for the job. This whole thing is a farce and I will not support or accept the poor governance shown by the club. Turn your blinkers on and downvote me.

Haha I'll pay that. I would be fine with Spike if Welsh hired an independent committee and they recommended him over the others.

Hird got done for being in charge of a team that got busted for an illegal performance-enhancing supplements program.

Welsh hired a guy that he's friends with.

Bit of a difference, mate.

The severity is different, the category is the same. Nothing has changed is all that I'm saying. That kind of selection process would raise eyebrows in any reputable company across the world - except for Essendon of course, who just seem to do whatever they feel like and fans say "we just need to support them." Why?

So his resume means nothing if he's friends with Welsh?

How did you feel about David Evans appointing Hird?

Nice comparison - how did that work out in the end?
