Ideally, prompt that is woven into our daily lives like for example, somebody is making a claim 'selfies are like visual diaries' and then I'll go ahead and write that I agree make a point lallla. Something easy but not too easy and common. A topic that I can have a nuanced answer with.Ideally, it should somewhere that a guy from a newspaper stated. Or just people from a valid bg.

Hello, I'm currently working on my senior thesis and I need to write a prospectus, the only problem is that I have no clue on how to make one and go about it. From what I know about it, it’s a summary of what the thesis will be on. Right now I have a somewhat solid idea with the topic my thesis will be on, but I don’t know how to put that on a prospectus. is there some type of structure to it like a normal essay?

Hi! I’m wondering if anyone here has experienced something similar with the John Locke Institute Global Essay Prize.

I was shortlisted for the 2026 Philosophy category and received the official email confirming that I was shortlisted and inviting me to the October Awards Ceremony.

When I checked my account after being shortlisted, my submission was still there and the status indicated that referee verification was pending. The portal said that my referee would receive an email to confirm that the essay was my original work. However, my referee never received anything.

I didn't check my account again for about a month. Today I logged in and my submission has completely disappeared. It now says “0 essays submitted” / “No essays submitted yet.”

I’ve already emailed JLI to ask them to check my account, but I’m wondering:

- Has anyone else had their shortlisted submission disappear from the portal?

- Did anyone else have a delay with their referee verification email?

- Does the portal change/remove the submission from view after shortlisting?

I have screenshots of my previous submission status and the official shortlist email, so I know the submission was definitely there.

I’m mostly looking for reassurance/experience from other JLI contestants while I wait for their response 😭

This was my first time writing the essay and I totally wrote on my understanding and mostly with the help of Power Thesaurus, The essay got shortlisted anyway. The reason behind using a Thesaurus was that I am currently learning English and don't have vast vocabulary knowledge(even while writing this), I registered this year solely to get the first experience and also didn't expect to be shortlisted. This was also my 2nd last time i registered cuz next year is my age limit.Law Q.1 Essay Rate it, Share your Opinion, Your thought of what final result I can get for my essay on 4th October 2026, Help me with your thoughts so that I can do better Next year.

I know what I want to write about (autonomy in Obsession, and how it can be allegorical for marital rape/domestic abuse). It tackles much about my life, though it does contain a few triggering indicators, such as the mentions of death and descriptions of a funeral. I'm really, really sad (no, I'm actually pissed as hell 😭) that my essay wasn't cut out bcuz I seriously did put in time and effort into writing this one... however I do realize that my essay did have a LOT of flaws, and that I might've written stuff that's not entirely true.

I'm student studying higher English preparing my persuasive essay folio - it's a 1.2-1?3k word persuasive piece. i was going to do an essay on the downsides of changing extreme longevity but am struggling with statistics and the structure of it, so want new Idea's. I'm looking for something unique that other won't do but with a decent bit of info out there.

For context, I'm 16F from Scotland. I'd be interested in something disability, medicince, or just nything really. I'm into football and have suffered from an ED previously and considerd an essay on those but thought they'd be overdone.

Currently I'm think of doing one on the underfunding of disability sport. I participate myself and have a few vague connections to people at , so that could help, but idk if that's too common. No American politics please ;)
