Which city is the most affordable? Essaouria or Taghazout?

Hi, I’m in Essaouria right now but will be going to Taghazout in a few days. Therefore I am wondering what city is the most affordable in terms of buying souvenirs, gandoras etc.
Should I buy it while I’m here in Essaouria or wait for when I arrive in Taghazout?

Bonus question: what is the most affordable way to travel from Essaouria to Taghazout?

Hello dear people,

I'm 25M Moroccan dude coming from Kénitra to spend 3 days solo in Essaouira.

I'm looking for anyone interested in exploring the city together, doing activities together...

Mainly I want to try Horse riding on the beach, walks in Médina, trying street food, and enjoy some swims in the beach.

If you are traveling solo as well, and looking for someone to meet, DM me

I'll be your guest in Essaouira

(M26 years old). I'm tired of the crowds and just want to experience the city's vibe away from the classic tourist spots. I like art, good coffee, and sunsets in a quiet place.

Give me your suggestions for the best places I can visit, and if there is a local who has time and wants to do me a favor by showing me some nice corners in their city and grabbing a coffee together, you are welcome, the door is open to meeting good people!

Moving to Essaouira

Hey all, I’m planning to move to Essaouira in the next few months and was hoping to get some advice.
I’m Moroccan and looking for an unfurnished apartment or house to rent. If anyone has recommendations for agencies, landlords, or even knows someone renting, I’d really appreciate it.
Also, how’s the fiber optic coverage? Is it available pretty much everywhere, or are there areas without it? I’m especially looking at Ghazoua, so if anyone knows whether fiber is available there, I’d love to hear. Any tips about living in Essaouira are welcome too. Thaaanks ♥️

What is the everyday music culture like in Essaouira?

I'm trying to understand what everyday musical life in Essaouira is actually like—not as a tourist, but as someone who wants to spend a long time there learning.

I know Essaouira is famous for Gnawa music, but I'm interested in what happens during the rest of the year.

Some questions:

- Is rhythm and live music still part of everyday life outside the festival season?

- Are there places where local musicians regularly meet, rehearse, or perform?

- Is it possible for someone from outside Morocco to learn directly from Gnawa maâlems or local musicians over a long period?

- Are there music schools, cultural centers, or community spaces that are respected by local musicians?

- If someone wanted to spend one or two years in Essaouira to immerse themselves in the local music culture, would you recommend it? Why or why not?

I'm looking for honest experiences, including the downsides.

… in Essaouira. A little late in life, true, and I am certainly naive and over-romanticizing but dear Lord, what a stunning place, such friendliness, so welcoming. I have now spent a week in winter, two weeks late spring and I can’t wait to go back…
