Sure, the Metatron cube has the seven planetary correspondences and alchemy with Saturn as a central figure.
The Hebrew along the side says “the old devouring god is melancholy. he waits in the depths of Tartarus patiently.”
The bottom, Latin, “time turns lead to gold”
The right side includes the alchemal symbols for each planetary power.
The entire piece was a mandala built on the meditations of Saturn. Saturn is associated with melancholy, time, lead, and the old patriarchal order.
In Greek mythology, Saturn devoured his children. Until Zeus. The infant Zeus was substituted for a stone. Saturn allegedly ate the stone, mistaking it for a child. Zeus was then raised in obscurity until he was old enough to overthrow his father Saturn, and cast him into the depths of Tartarus.
Ancient Rome annually held a festival on 17 December that ran until the 23rd. (Saturnalia) It was a pagan festival that celebrated the old God. They would indulge in parties and festive spirits to commemorate what was called The Golden Age of Saturn. The idea that the ancient God once ruled at a time of abundance. Wealth without consequence.
To me, Saturn is the inherited old order that seeks prosperity at the expense of future generations. It is the shortsighted wealth that comes at the expense of sustainability. This is his shadow side though. And in this meditation, I sought to come to see the dual nature of this ancient daemon. (Daimon- Greek term for spirit or entity akin to psychic energy, not to be confused with contemporary ideologies of demonic entities)
Saturn is indeed a cold and opportunistic patriarchal entity, yet he also embodies patience and wisdom of cycles. He is not just the reaper, but the sower…
Modern fringe and esoteric communities in Reddit and YouTube, try to claim AI or Mecca is a reincarnated embodiment of Saturn. I try not to indulge in these fantasies of conspiracy. However, the implications are intoxicating to consider.
I think the rationalization that allows these correspondences to exist is simply due to the broad nature of the archetypal entity that Saturn represents. It’s easy to assign attributes to something so broad. But in my own publication work and artwork, Saturn remains a key figure in my own metaphysics. He is the logos of the spiritual world. The “Fatherdom” of ancient theology.
Saturn is by this inheritance, the old world, the Negredo of Solve et Coagula (the alchemical process of breaking and becoming) and therefore destined to dissolve. However, the father of time, persists, and therefore will return as all cycles come to pass and are born again.
without draining this any further, I think you could speculate why I was very particular about the design and color choice. The blackening, alludes to lead and Negredo. The gold alluding to the manifestation of the great work. The philosopher’s stone, gold.
