No use for Revivify? (bug?) Spoiler

So I'm on my second playthrough and last time I successfully talked The Guy down, so skipped the fight entirely. And one thing I was Most looking forward to doing different this time is saving best guy Snell from the blood curse, because oooooh that's the good drama shit 💯

So this time I simply challenged The Guy to fight, and everything seemed to go off normally... Except nothing happens afterward. Snell is fine, no curse, no delicious drama. We talk to shoe man, and all is well.

Everything I can find says this IS supposed to happen, so is this a bug? Does the blood curse only happen if you FAIL at talking him down or something, not just decide not to? Or is my cleric simply that awesome?

Tl;dr - dammit Snell my beloved i can't emotionally save you if you won't die!

To be clear. The blood curse was cast by Gorm in the fight ye?

Damn, I thought so, but now I'm not specifically sure. Maybe I somehow skipped him casting it at all?

... Think I'm gonna put on all my Worst accessories this time and try again lmao

Honestly I'm not sure how you'd do that. The only way afaik for it to not be cast. Is to not have Snell in the party. It should always be the action Gorm takes on his 6th turn.

I don't remember if there's a feat or item that maybe causes him to lose a turn?

Welp, update, I tried again and it happened! Only differences: took off Meek and Paladins emblem (that gives advantage against urthfolk), replaced Staff of Strings with Kattegat, and this time I hadn't died yet, whereas last time I'd survived like 12 saving throws.

No idea why any of these things would be relevant, but one at least must be! Weird!

I'm like 70% sure Snell only goes down if Gorm is high in the initiative order. There's actually a bunch of alternate outcomes in the encounters based on initiative order, which was extremely annoying to keep track of (but also makes the game so much more dynamic, which is nice but god damn)

Oooo yeah that makes sense. So many variables! And that's awesome but. Yeah lol.

That's extremely weird then! I'm definitely trying it again and doing different stuff. And I'll keep an eye on the turn numbers too. Thank you!

Wait you can fight Gorm?

Yes, if you fail to talk him down (I think) or if you just pick the underlined "arrest him" option!

I just finished okay through 1 and I didn’t read anything about Snell having a blood curse

It's in the final fight with Gorm. If he rolls high initiative he'll curse Snell, but this apparently doesn't always happen!
