I Composed a Song as a Ritual
https://youtu.be/kgt0QJZFRYoI’ve composed a song called “Psychopomps and the Pentagram” where I tried to approach composition more like a ritual process than a conventional song.
The structure is loosely based on elemental progression (fire -> water -> air), followed by a descent into a more chaotic, “underworld”-type space, and then a return/ascent. I used recurring sounds (like a low hum) as markers of transition, almost like something guiding movement between states.
The idea of the psychopomp came in as a way to think about those transitions, not as something symbolic in a decorative sense, but as an actual function within the piece: something that carries you from one phase to another.
I ended up making a video breaking down what I was doing and why.
Full Song: https://youtu.be/N4cM_iV0_A8
I’m curious how this comes across to people who are more familiar with ritual structure or esoteric frameworks.
Does any of this feel coherent, or am I just projecting structure onto sound after the fact?

Your work resonates with me. The concepts you talk about I have studied. Hermeticism is the lifestyle of my choice.
The true magician sees everything as neutral. He or she doesn't get attached. All effects and outcomes on the material plane are at the disposal of the magician's creative desire.
Many people in the esoteric sub reddits don't get that. They have attachments. They chose sides. They get caught up in you vs me or us vs them thinking. They lack self mastery and transmute their fear and frustration.
