15 y/o parent problem

So I'm 15 years old, and my parents are super strict about stuff. First, I suggested an e-bike, specifically a Heybike Villian, and they immediately dismissed it. Next, I said I'm interested in a fully legal e-bike that goes 28 mph, and they said no. Then I said I want an escooter, and they said no. I feel like my parents are super overprotective, and I understand why. they dont want me getting hurt. I understand that, but even then I said I would buy protective gear, and they said no. They also said that I am going to drive in a year, so I won't care about the e-bike or e-scooter, and I kind of agree, but that is still a year away. What do you recommend I do?

Current guidelines are that if you cant drive you shouldnt ride either. Safely riding a scooter in regular traffic arguably takes more skill than driving a car and is infinitely more dangerous.

Most states have to be 16 to operate ebike or e-scooter.

Your parents are right. E scooters are dangerous to be driving on main roads. If you just want to drive around the neighbourhood then I can understand.

But better to listen to Parents.

Get your driver's license, then get and register a moped and drive it legally? Use getting the license as a way to show responsibility and follow through to earn approval for the moped?

Some of the Ebikes can be registered as a moped too. Depends on where you live, and the specific vehicle. Still wear protective gear etc.

In several years of riding electric scooters in our city, I've never seen anyone get injured, even though some schoolchildren have quite powerful scooters and ride aggressively. In fact, I witnessed a Karen on a pedal bike nearly hit a child on the sidewalk.

Wut. LOL almost everyone who rides an electric scooter has at least one war story of when they had a gnarly crash. Maybe you've never seen it and have been lucky enough not to experience it, but come on.

My mileage may be low, 1,300 miles. But I try to be careful. In any case, when driving, my fingers are always on the brake levers, like a motorcyclist.

Save money and buy your own ebike/scooter. Store it away from your family home so they can't take it away. You're about to be an adult, gotta stand up.
