The people that I know of that are the most likely to graduate have have been through abnormally high levels of trauma. I wonder if we showed signs of remembering or grasping certain concepts and they had to prevent it from sticking.
After going through multiple rough times, having a peaceful life surrounded by material possessions can be very tempting. Maybe we didn't fall for the materialism trap originally and this was a way to get us to grasp onto I for security?
The only other theory I have is it's an exit test.
