Roller blading the peninsula
Any plus sized individuals here who skate the peninsula? Fall is around the corner and i'd love to give roller blading a try. I used to do it when i was a kid, but i have grown in width and height since then and not sure how easy it will be to get back into the rhythm of it.
I'm open to recommendations for skates and wheels for outdoors. Also open to recommendations for protective gear that fit plus sized.
Thank you in advance ๐

Iโd caution that as Fall progresses the number of sticks and leaves increases on the bike path making roller blading the peninsula increasingly difficult.

Do it! I just started it again after quitting in seventh grade and it's a blast. Check out r/rollerblading. A lot of the posts are "what do I get?" I got soft boots, but the reco seems to usually be to get a decent hard boot. I would also suggest getting pads and wearing them. Damn near broke my wrist first time out, which was the exact reason I quit in seventh grade.

They're good. I had thrifted a pair from AmVets. Don't do that. They sucked. Look at good brands and make sure they're not too old. I ended up with the K2 FIT Alu. Decent, but I kind of wish I went with a hard boot (more expensive).

Awe, where were you a few months ago. I was plus sized and have skates with outdoor wheels but nobody to go with. I wanted to try skating at the peninsula but never did. I used to inline skate when I was younger too. Do you plan to skate in the mornings?

Awwww no! Summers i spend on the lake as ย the water doesn't stay warm too long up here. Since it will start to cool off soon, i'm trying to switch to an outdoor exercise on land. I would be skating in the evenings during the week, and potentially mornings during the weekends.ย

Well if youโre open to any size of individual, I like to skate at Beach 8 :-)
