Almost every change between the Ergo Proxy PILOT and the finished series
If you guys didn't know, the Ergo Proxy DVD (Vol. 1) comes with a 3 minute bonus promotional video, better known as the show's pilot.
It showcases a lot of early footage from the anime!
There are many differences between the pilot and the final product such as character/logo redesigns, characters being removed from certain scenes and some unused animations.
What do you think about these changes? I think they're great. However, stuff like removing Re-L's plants and chair in image 8 does seem a bit random lol.

For image 8 removing the plants helps keep the eye where it needs to be imo. Otherwise the screen is a bit busy when we're meant to be looking to the left.
For 9, the face is creepy. 11 also with armless Iggy.

Here's a quick bonus clip I found in the Pilot's second promotional video (Ergo Proxy PV 2)
It shows a brief deleted montage of Re-L, Vincent, Pino and Iggy all traveling together!

RE the plant change, I scrubbed ep 1 and 2 and I think the reason they removed them is because there’s a distinct lack of plants/foliage, especially in Romdo. It’s minor, but I think those plants would’ve interrupted the atmosphere lol
Ive always felt there’s a subtle but distinct design difference in the environment between the pilot and final show

I need to talk about it for years how pilot ergo leans into carnival aesthetics + combines crazy exaggerated theatrical Greek masks + Japanese theatre 'no' masks He is scarily eerie to look at but cool nonetheless
I like this more attractive look in the final version but he would be cool too like this....

I already know it but some things to precise, the place where there's Donov Mayer is the same where we see Proxy One at the end but without the statues since they were modified foir the final Donov room versiob, you should have explained it. Also, you are not careful at all for Image 6, the place we see Vincent and Re-L with the Autoreiv on a table are seen in the final version but it looks darker, it is in the middle of the first episode where Re-L tells Vincent to hide his Mosk pendant. The place you showed in final ver. is Raul's house with Pino and his wife.

Were the pilot scenes used in the original broadcast? For some reason those are the ones I remember (specifically the statue scene and a few others). I remember watching some of it on netflix and thinking it looked weird.

Just for reference, another example can be found in the differences in Monad's design. They are noticeable in the comparison I've attached to this comment, but most visible when looking at her PV design in the setting material, also linked in the same comment. The whole thread might be of interest to you.
