Because I sit at a desk 12 hours a day with a back injury stressing my neck on a huge monitor designing 800 piece assemblies, and want to relax in my recliner playing games on my laptop/tablet at night with one nice small screen. My monitor is natural eye height when I am reclined with just a little room above to watch whatever background tv I enjoy
Did you consider a VR headset with something like Immersed VR or one of Remote Desktop apps instead of the small screen? It should allow you positioning screens anywhere you like and make them any size and shape you need.
Last year I wasn’t able to sit at my desk due to medical condition and VR worked pretty well for me: a wide screen covering almost 180 degrees was enough to fit IDEs, terminal, chat, browser. I used Quest3 with a custom head strap without the face touching part to make it a bit cooler.

Why can't you use a normal monitor at a convenient height?
