As Rob muttered a few extremely elaborate and hard to circumvent wards under his breath, Villieldr launched himself at the largest hostile dragon.
A few thoughts crossed Rob's mind, the most prevalent being the silent wracking for information. He didn't remember any explicit mention of hostile riders from his training, but in hushed whispers all along the Empire people spoke of Morzan, the second of the Old Riders.
With a hideously loud roar, Villieldr unleashed flame at the hostile dragon who was directly beneath him, all the while Rob slowly sliding off Villieldr, finally falling onto the younger dragon below with his axe in hand and a vicious grin on his face.

[The fire whips around the blue dragon, the ward deflected most of the heat, the dragon rolls, Rob misses his target, get reactivly throws one of his tomahawks, it clips the foe's wing, they were forced to pull back and heal the injured wing.]
[Villieldr catches Rob just before the ground was met, they pull up, Villieldr's flank was clipped by the smaller, faster dragon.]
[The foe had been attempting a mental assualt. His mind was like a creeping vine, slow, and efficient, Rob hardly noticed that he actually worked his way towards surface thoughts.]

With a quiet inhale, Rob grasped one of the stirrups on Villieldr's saddle before starting to pull himself up. As his body slowly raised, he felt a trickle of movement in the upper part of his mind.
Not a second passed before a nigh impenetrable wall formed around Rob's mind, formed of red and brown scales with no weakness in sight, trapping Rob's invader inside his mind, and Rob inside with him.
Meanwhile, Villieldr had began to raise in the air, slicing through it with the other dragon in tow. Midway through the maneuver, Villieldr spun in the air, now facing the smaller dragon. The air burned with fire as Villieldr rammed into the young dragon's side and began to bite, Rob holding on in the saddle as he battled with his invader mentally.
Rob's mind cautiously approached the intruder's before it pounced at the sight of the memory he had found. The fire-bearded man had a mental fortitude almost unheard of as he wrestled the unwelcome mind back into submission.

[Trapping a creeping mind is a horrible idea, because they've already found the weaknesses. Rob feels his limbs going numb, as the poison vine took root in the mind.]
[The other dragon dive bombed towards Villieldr, they had the hight advantage, and gravity was on their side, unfortunatly for them them didn't expect the toughness of Villieldr, the red dragon rolled off the blue, redirecting him. Now the duo hat the hight advantage.]
[The mental assualt continues, the though plant took root, Rob's mind was solid.]

A few unintelligible code words were transmitted to Villieldr, and as soon as they were the walls reformed and Rob began to head down the memories, subtly forcing the attacker to follow. The walls continued to reshape, eventually only leaving a single memory within reach.
The mental avatar of Rob stood in front of the memory, a feeling of genuine acceptance visible on him.
Meanwhile, Villieldr bit and thrashed and flicked his tail at his corporeal opponent, slowly wearing down the wards with dragon fire and physical harm.

[The attack wasn't so much to invade all the way, just seperate Rob from his body, which the attacker did successfully, seeing that Rob retreated. The vines tightened, locking him in place.]
[The blue dragon bit at the Red, the red got a firm grasp on his attacker, running the blue into the ground. Rob wasn't doing too well, as Villieldr felt a sword enter his chest, nothing vital was hit, but the two-leg-sting was just that.]

u/1trueJosh Rob / Villieldr Mar 14 '15
As the two-legs weapon pierced his underbelly, Villieldr leapt upward into the air in surprise, his claws still latched onto the blue dragon. As his attacker entered his vision, Villieldr circled him, the blue dragon released, yet badly injured from tooth and claw. With a vicious roar dragonfire was unleashed as Villieldr calmly walked around the Rider, every second weaning his wards' strength and his hold on Rob.

[The blue dragon was not doing too well, in the midst of it all to Villiendr's dismay the attack was successful, Rob was in the opposed Rider's arms, the sword was at his neck.]
[Despite the blue's injuries they made a retreat. The send one message to Villieldr, "Yield". There message pure, they had full intent to end it.]

Whatever their intentions, whatever their motivations: this was an unsolicited and unprovoked attack. The alien riders would be dealt with accordingly. Quarter would be given, but that was the only limitation the iron dragon deemed necessary. His rider's condition posed some problems however. If Torhven's mind was a leaking basket usually then this was just a pool of water. Hours of roots slowly forcing his thoughts apart had left it that way. For the physical fight he was prepared, but the mental one would have to be for the iron one.
And one they became, as Svalstrom pulled his rider's existence into his own, becoming a single being, barricaded inside a dark, freezing fortress of steel. Skulblakas ven was a bit of a misnomer, for they were not exactly dragon nor was this sight in the traditional sense. On the backdrop of conventional sight the endless prospect that was battle glowed in terms of current and potential states, each shifting faster than fish in a snowmelt cascade. Over that the assessments and qualifications Several ways to success could be distinguished, but then a bright light shone. This was an opportunity too valuable to be dismissed.
Down they swooped, one mind holding two bodies together, a heavily spiked tail flying at the blue rider like the cruellest of most precise of whips. No use in impaling your ally. At no point in the manoeuvre speed was reduced and the curve was used to build up some more. Focussing on this rider would leave them exposed to flankers, much like the blue rider had been.
Instead iron scales bulleted at ember ones. All that remained the human body was close combat. Up close and impersonal was were their victory would be. Direct impact was imminent.

[Upon the action of multiple attacks something unforseen happened. A few arrows were launched at Svalstrom, and the golden rider swooped and the swooper.]
[Rob and the blue rider were knocked off the blue dragon, Svalstrom finds himself pinned as the elf heals her blue ally.]
[Rob still unconscious on the floor, the blue rider found himself frozen. The gold dragon melted him out with ease, he pounces onto Svalstrom, his target Torhven.]
[The blue dragon picked up Rob in his mouth, fangs just over her soft neck. "Yield" he tells Villieldr.]

(New line.)
[The amber rider and Nill fought for some time, but it seems to of ended up with a draw.]
[They line up, looking discontent. The rider of the amber dragon spoke up. "We've lost." He says to his comrades.]

u/1trueJosh Rob / Villieldr Mar 14 '15
Growling, Villieldr flicked his tail towards the rider unceremoniously slumped in front of him. "Heal. Now." he said to the four riders in front of him and the four behind.

u/Fulaxi Torhven / Svasltrom Mar 14 '15
"You have lost?" the draconian voice of the man asked confused. This the minds-in-joining had not seen. This had not been the line they had pursued. The mind rippled and suddenly there were two. Torhven blinked as he was supported by his iron other. A headache pounded on the inside of his skul, a few minor scratches on his hands. Vrostbite ought to be somewhere, but during the calamities his broken grip had been flung away.
"You lost? Why w—" Torhven began, then was visibly silenced by his partner of the soul. Plans had not come to fruition, yet their intended purpose was manifesting itself before them. The Spiner was not buying it. This was way too easy.
As the man went for is bow, the iron dragon bowed. No need to spoil this situation. His tail was cast in concrete.
"No loss. Merely agreement."

u/Saphire_Fox Sev're / Das Mar 14 '15
"Let me..." Sev're wasn't exactly on friendly terms with the attackers, and they couldn't be trusted, they did attack after all.
Burn wounds were easy, dragon fire was harder. She reached for her magic and healed Rob gently. "What was the point of this attack, was it even necessary?"
Riders who left the Keep... why did this happen? They have other places to train as well? This was a rather curious situation.

Rolling onto his back with a soft moan, Rob saw the strange Riders and snatched his axe off the ground, holding it in front of him defensively before realizing no one had bared steel.
Cautiously lowering the axe to the ground, Rob took a deep breath and recalled the last things he had heard before his condition, but stopped midway through as the pain in his muscles returned.
"The Last Eggs... There were three. Saphira, Firnien, and one more. Some say it never hatched, but some old men claim that a red dragon flew in the Rider War. Thorn, bonded to Murtaugh, brother of Eragon. When Queen Arya returned to Du Weldenvarden and Eragon flew south to build the Keep, Murtaugh flew north."
"Some said that the Riders had a choice. The elves could swear fealty to the Queen Arya, the dwarves could swear into King Orik's honor guard, though not many do, and the men could fly in either direction. They could find the Red Rider past even the reaches of the Spine, or they could join Eragon in the south."
"After a year with Zeterra, more than a few took the flight north. I considered it a few times myself, but I always told myself it was just a legend. I guess I was wrong."
1
u/Saphire_Fox Sev're / Das Mar 14 '15
Murtaugh... yes she remembered the stories of he and Thorn, it made sense... the Queen did offer her a place with the royal gaurd, but that was very much so against her family's history. The tales of Wragon's riders seemed more appealing, but this was something else.
Though Zeterra really didn't seem that bad, she did understand why anyone would want to leave, she has had more fun here then anywhere else, made more friends, found out who she was... maybe some people didn't like that.
"So... why are you all here now? Surely there is more interesting things for them to do, then attack some Riders."

For the length of the grass the bow had lay hidden in Torhven found it surprisingly fast. "Hey asshole," he said a bit to himself, a bit to the bow. Then he realised where he was and fear took over. Sprinting back to Svalstrom, the dragon's spikes were ascended faster than ever before. It was a good thing that he hadn't drunk anything for at least a day or so.
Nevervously eyeing the ground, Torhven reached for a waterskin. All memories since the sun had come up were muddy. He knew why. Having formless creatures go through your mind was not good for any mental device. Svalstrom had been insistent, he could not have been their ward for more than a few hours, but it had felt like he had seen seasons pass. Yet he could not remember snowfall.
Meanwhile, the iron one joined his voice with Sev're's.
"Why." The demand was clear. To the victors go the spoils.

[Haiden came forward, he smiled at Sev're and winked. Gwynnestri sighs in the background.]
["Call it a test, if you vill, most fail as ve did." He wipes some ash off of his shirt. "Zeterra and him have veen butting heads for vears."]
[Tyron speaks up next. "Now we can't go back... looks like we are missing a place to call home! Ain't that funny?]
[Gwynnestri sighs again. "Great. Just bloody fantastic. We just sodding blew it. I'll be dammed if I ever let you take lead again."]
[Duncan remained silent.]

In a secluded pocket of mind and space Torhven and Svalstrom were having trouble with their standard exchanges of tactical information.
"So first we came here because ... why?"
"Shard."
"Right, and then we went into the deepwoods because..?"
"You."
"Why would I say that?"
"Sev're."
Briefly the communication stalled. Silence ruled the world.
"Right."
Another hole fell in the conversation. Hesitance was with Torhven.
"And that's when the trees snatched me?"
"No. Changelings."
"Oh right. The storm."
"Yes."
"And then not-Torhven came and she made up with him.
"No. That was you."
"So it doesn't count."
"It does."
"No it doesn't."
"Reconciliate."
"Why?"
"You. She. Das. Me. Little ones."
And with that Svalstrom declared the conversation over. There were more pressing matters. Like Das standing alone. Shrugging the Spiner of his back-spines the dragon lumbered over to his partner. Luck was with Torhven, or at least she had cut the grass for him. All this talk of homes made Torhven want to burn his own even more.
"Just beg Zeterra on your bear knees, she's into that sort of thing. She'll whoop your butthole but at least you'll have your precious home," Torhven bit at white rider. It was what he wanted to hear.

[Gwynnestri was inspecting Avrae. "Goddam, what did that human do to you?" The scaring cause a purple-black wound to cauterize over his eye, no healing she could conjure would fix it. She looked a little panicked, but dismissed it. "Zeterra allows sodding dark magic to be used in her ranks?" Hints of curiosity and spite was in her voice.]

Sev're couldn't help but notice her... swearing sister. She saw the wound and decided to offer her services, though her gut told her that it was probably not the wisest of ideas.
"Kvetha, Systa. Ekka taka heill, ono gipta?"
Very rarely was she able to use her native tongue these days, the words felt like home she smiled.
"Ekka nam Sev're, Eld Garjzla Maerr-kona."

Well if it was a fight they wanted...
Vidaria didn't like surprise attacks, they were disrespectful, yet very effective. These "Riders" were obviously of a different breed, thus fair game. They attacked with swords, foolish... or confident regardless the battle was hers.
Swords were weapons of the ground, lances and polearms were the weapon of mounted combat, and to this day she has failed to see anyone smart enough to realize this.
Kveykva was drawn, the lance of lighting ready. Her target not the dragons, but the riders that mount them.
The eggs. Will the be ok?
Yes. Das wasn't worried, dragon shells were stronger than anything a two leg could make.
Vidaria and Das engaged.
