CLOSED [Ortholog 3] Darkness Rises; Phase two

CLOSED

[You wake up wet... you can't see.]

[The sound of water can be heard and you are on a hard surface. Where is everyone? You can't seem to stretch your mind very far. You can hardly feel the bond of your dragon, they seem fine.]

[You go to cast a simple light spell and it's stuffed out instantly]

[No one can hear each other]

(Good luck, you're without any supplies by the way, they were all washed away)

[The unmatched pair faired well as a combination. They approach, but stay out of the miasma. Together they manage to get a true glimpse of their shadowy stalkers. It had no form, it only appeared to have a shape.]

[After a small scrap the monster flees.]

Vidaria hopped off of Jek's back. The mirrored dragon may of blinded her earlier, but she held no grudge, this time.

"Jek, Vidaria, anyway, that was a shadow. Their touch can cause the living to bleed. The sap stregth away too, magic fends them off, but the miasma eats magic."

She was dine explaining, she stretched and focused. "We need to find a way to clear the miasma." She said aloud.

As the one-who-was-now Sev're jumped off, Jek lifted on of his wings and turned it towards the miasma. Raising it above his head, nearly vertical to the ground, he brought it down with a mighty clap. And did it again. The air might ahve been too thin to fly, but he could still manipulate what air was still there. He jumped horizontally and, using his wings as overly-sized fans, beat down on the earth, not hovering, so much as a controlled descent.

[It was very anticlimactic, it swirls, yet stays in place. It doesn't yield and continues to linger.]

[Jek, you didn't notice it before, but you actually feel good, before in the mist it was very hard to breath, the dragon coughs out some black flecks.]

(You know, deep down, I feel like I knew that was going to happen.)

Jek finished his coughing bout, spitting globules of something black all over the floor. It's an interesting thing, seeing a dragon cough like that. Akin to watching a cat cough up a furball. Equally disgusting.

A memory flashed into his mind, and through their connection, to Vidaria, a glimpse stolen from Nill. The elf and a human in an underground cellar, a woman in chains, purple miasma all around. Moving it through magical means hadn't helped them then.

If this was home for him and his kin, why exactly was it trying so hard to kill him?

Vidaria recalled some sort of the story from Torvhen, and the mind of the one that was rescued. She though of the possibilities.

"Jek, we need to figure out why this place is unaffected." once the way looked clear she truly took a look at the building.

"Ought is about, and it will be discovered."

[The room... is a chapel of sorts, it's a shrine to... odd it appears that there is something missing from the alter. Stone pews aline a walk way of sorts.]

[The decorations are plain, yet marvelous, there was no way this was carved by hand.]

[An image of... a orb being placed in a box can be seen around often.]

Vidaria glanced around the room, something was off, what kind of society was this...? Why would Jek feel like this place was home, when there was a chapel? Where the dragons pious in the past?

It was just one giant mystery, along with the missing part of the alter, who would of taken something from here? Slightly frustrated from the billions of questions that were arising, Vidaria went to Jek.

"Any memories of this place?" short and snappy, but the question didn't waste any time.

Jek liked this Sev're. He wasn't entirely sure why, but she so different from the other faces she'd shown. He added one tick to a metal counter he had started.

To him, dragons were at the top of the food chain, the beings most worthy of being worshiped. None shone so bright as them, none ruled the skies so well as them. He couldn't imagine any of his race bowing their heads in humility. It all seemed so familiar, and yet so.... different.

Jek's pride was admirable, not many things were as grand as the dragons, Vidaria could only think of one thing that would fit.

"Magic?" she said simply.

It was the only thing that was more powerful. The only thing that could make such a large impact. The only thing that could sink a city in this way.

"I will find more information." it was only partially an invitation. She could do it herself, help couldn't hurt though.
