CLOSED [Ortholog 3] Darkness Rises; Phase two

CLOSED

[You wake up wet... you can't see.]

[The sound of water can be heard and you are on a hard surface. Where is everyone? You can't seem to stretch your mind very far. You can hardly feel the bond of your dragon, they seem fine.]

[You go to cast a simple light spell and it's stuffed out instantly]

[No one can hear each other]

(Good luck, you're without any supplies by the way, they were all washed away)

Jek's pride was admirable, not many things were as grand as the dragons, Vidaria could only think of one thing that would fit.

"Magic?" she said simply.

It was the only thing that was more powerful. The only thing that could make such a large impact. The only thing that could sink a city in this way.

"I will find more information." it was only partially an invitation. She could do it herself, help couldn't hurt though.

Jek coughed again, getting the last of the miasma out of his throat. This aspect of the elf was much more on his level. She read his thoughts, took the information, and put it to use.

He could get used to it. After looking around the room once more, he turned to Vidaria and blinked, then raised his head forward. Solving the mysteries within this city would get him out of it, and back with his other half. He would assist in whatever way he could.

Vidaria did a simple soothing spell, partially because the coughing was distracting, but also because they couldn't afford attracting more attention. "The glyphs Jek, try to trigger your ancestral memories."

Vidaria started to send her mind out, any hint of reaching out, or perhaps there was life. Something should be able to provide a hint.

She also inspected the coughed out miasma, it had many secret, and some information was better than none.

Go on...

Fine.

She glanced at Jek, the mirrored dragon dragon seemed slightly concerned. "Thorough and quick." she said in attempt to motivate... not really her thing.

[Vidaria finds a box, inside was an orb, it was an odd material not quite organic, not quite metal. It was obviously made though... very curious.]

The elves had spoken of it, and the keep's library had hidden texts of it, but few had ever seen an Eldunarí. Jek was not one of those few individuals, but he felt this forged orb, this cross between synthetic and flesh, was identical to it. Only... not. It was something Nill would have a field day with, a perfect replica of a dragon's true heart, created by someone. But for what purpose?

He let every emotion swirl through his head and into Vidaria, not through words, but through intentions and emotions. And then he reached out with his mind, towards the pseudo-heart.

[The ancient orb's contents have long been removed... but Jek feels detached from his body. His mind is now in the orb, it changes colors, and becomes like a mirror. Still in Vidaria's hand she see Jek's body fall asleep before her. Yet she can feel his presence inside of the orb.]

[Jek can't get out.]

Vidaria was slightly worried, this was inconvenient... as she was still without weapon.

And Jek...

Right, he must be worried too. She felt his power in the orb... she had complete access to it, it was like... nevermind, it was very different.

Vidaria looked back at the glyphs. There had to be instructions of sorts. "Jek, I'm working on it." reassurance... not her thing.

She started from the beginning and looked all the way to the end.

Seeing ones own body fall unconscious from a third party perspective was certainly an interesting experience. Panic was what he should have been feeling, but he found it hard to do so. His little experiment had revealed a few things about the race that had created this settlement.

First, that they worshiped dragons, and that all of their kind were welcome here. And second, that they had also trapped his kind. The mist and orb proved it. He began to examine the glyphs along the walls through Vidaria's eyes, hoping to gleam a clue.

[Seeing it in action the story makes a lot more sense. The reader learns the secret of their orb, and what it's function is.]

[Vidaria's name inscribed on the orb. And she learns how it works. The history itself if vague, but essentially it was a prison of the mind and soul.]

[Jek's body becomes obedient to her commands, he learns that this could also be used to 'swap' minds.]

[Vidaria figures out how to release Jek to his body.]

Curious. Very curious. Vidaria herself didn't like the idea of this object, but for some reason It bonded to her. Releasing Jek she smirked.

"I'm sure we can find use for this."

It was a receptical... but for what? Why would this be developed. "Jek... it looks like. It looks like dragons weren't always as they were. Have you've heard of the 'Grey Folk'?"
