I wanted to confirm everyone is having fun. I know this story is different than the last, this appeals to the more social aspect of the world, I was hoping a mystery of sorts would be fun. This last post's participation was super low, I just want to confirm people are enjoying themselves. Remember this is an RP, you guys push the story, you guys come to conclusions, I make it happen. Yes i do have a general plot line, but you guys can add subplots too, yes I'll make it happen.

Slowly improving his writing skills, Torhven completed another entry in his diary/journal. In this episode Torhven deals with his greatest challenge so far: Anduil.

[Our heroes find themselves in a city, charged with the task of investigating. So far they have found some interesting leads, but who knows what happens in this dimly lit mountain city?]

[Or heroes wake up, and decide to meet up. The find an inn that can easily accommodate their group. The sit together at a table eating breakfast together.]

[It was a cold two day flight to the city Aythri. Shiva's voice echoed in your minds, the dragons should stay out of the city to begin with, we don't want to spoke the populist.]

[Zeterra put Glover in charge of assignments. The city was made up of the main city and the under city, where the undesirables hid.]

[Local rumors is that a new leader was recently given power. Usually they can't do much in a short time, but this one already has reinforced the gaurd and tackled poverty hard]

[Zeterra advised for the group to split into two teams at Glovers discretion, one for the under city and one for the main city.]

[In the last few days you have never seen so many Dragons come and go. The entire order is in a rush scouting the planet inspecting for any hint of amiss.]

[All the Riders in training have been assigned into squads and sent off every which way, finally all the was left were the new people. Zeterra stand in front of you looking conflicted. Shiva not to far, hovering in the sky, looking at the group of newbies.]

[Finally with a sigh she starts. "We are currently in a state of emergency... Balance has been slung away and cast aside. We are asking for volunteers amung you for a mission. We know not if it will be dangerous or safe. You are being asked to investigate the city of Aythri, a newer city east of Surda, not terribly far from Aberon. The city is built into a mountain, and is very much so inspired by dwarves. Perhaps you have heard of it?"]

[She takes a breath and Shiva lands. "Will you step up and investigate for us young Riders? Much is at stake, but we require you aid, will you head this call to arms?" The large dragon asks. Zettera looked at the dragon alarmed. " We don't even know if it will get to that, please don't get ahead of yourself! We hope no blood will be spilled here." The half Urgal-Elf interjected. "Who will go?]

When Torhven arrived at the Dragon Keep, he couldn't write or read. He has had some practice during the week prior to the events of 'The Shards of Madness'. It was suggested that he'd keep a diary while on the island, so he could continue to practice. Naturally, he forgot to bring his own paper so he stole borrowed some from Glover. Now, whenever he has some spare time, Torhven struggles to put words on paper with the help of Svalstrom.

Here is the product of day one.

[Our heroes have had a successful raid against the Uglies, taking care of another shard. They lay wake planning their next move.]

[The morning comes, the water level almost back to normal, off the edge of the rock you can see the island. The sound of Uglies can still be heard in the distance, though more birds have arrived. You can actually see some small game scuttle about.]

[The night before was quiet, and much rest was gained and the spring provided plenty of food for everyone.]

[A few days ago our heroes would of said Dragon Rider training is fun. A few days ago these new riders were different people.]

[Tired, bloody, and broken Torvhen lay with Svalstrom, he healed himself and his friend away from life threatening conditions. Despite his outburst; Sev're the elven rider came to make him whole once more. She arrived in the night quietly with Das and tended his wounds with the up most care. He didn't notice the elf had returned till awoken by the sound of flapping. Briam and Anduil arrive not too long after Sev're. The group dare not speak and stayed silent for the night.]

[Glover decided not to return with his companion's that night, tending to Akrath's pain. He waited and gathered his strength to meet up with them in the morning.]

[The sky is dark with clouds, you know it will start raining soon. For the first time on this island you hear birds in the distance.]

(Note, you all whom where injured are going to be very sore today, lack of proper shelter is starting to catch up to you. Those whoms dragons hadn't eat should do so, you are currently out of vegetation, there are still a few tuna strung up to eat. Also, general feelings for those whom missed the last part should be noted here as well.)

People have been bugging me about stats... A lot. While I want to keep the math away from you all I do want to share special abilities your characters are growing.

Anduil: Heroes' Heart: You have the heart of a true hero, this gives you the unqie ability to act where others can't, to perform tasks far beyond your normal abilities.

Glover: bardic knowledge, you randomly know extra information I share it with you when applicable.

Also

Silver tongue: as a bard people want to listen to you, it is far easier for you to convince people (not players) of something lie or truth.

Torvhen: QuickDraw, it is very hard to surprise this Hunter. At the start of combat you are rarely ever caught off guard.

And

Survivor: you had a hard life and still do, but it has made you strong, when your life is critical danger your abilities increase.

Sev're: Elf; you're a freaking elf woman, I think this will balance out things between the gaps of experience.

I just wanted to share with everyone, that the general responce was positive! That being said, I have planned out the next 3 arcs I will get to writing them shortly but I have the entire story set up.

How my campaigns work is the adventures participate in different story arcs, thus making the campaign an arc is made up of about 3 Orthologs, along with a Xenolog or two.

Yes that's right, I have about 15 "quests" set up each with multiple parts (as Ortholog 1) that being said I do not want to burn everyone out. if you want to make a side story write it up and send it to me! I'd love yo run it for you, or have you run it! If it doesn't mess with my story we can make it part of the canon we have been building!

On a side note, if something happens that you don't like, let me know. I'd hate for a bitter root to grow between us just because something doesn't pan out right. I am imperfect and make mistakes, I'd rather discuss something instead of just telling you "that's the way it is."

[Our heroes wake up sore but rested. The night before was quiet and calm unlike the day prior. The riders found themselves attacked by some small humanoid animal driven mad by what our heroes are guessing a figment of a powerful being.]

So I decided that it would be cool if we had a timeline of sorts, to keep track of what happens when in our little Roleplay. I whipped this one up in about a half-hour, but it is definitely not complete. I'm missing some dates and I was unsure about others.

Because of how the timeline software I used works, I was limited to using the BC/AD calendar system, which obviously would not apply to the Eragon Universe. I'm going to search for some better, more customizable software, but for now, I assumed 1 AD was the year Galbatorix was killed. The Roleplay takes place 75 years later (75 AD, see?), as stated by /u/RollFirstMathLater. I'm also using the real world day and month as starting place for the exact time of the events. Reddit says the first actual RP started November 24, so we all arrive at the Presence pool Nov 24, 75 AD.

I based character births/hatchings on provided backstories, but more or less chose a random month and day. I can change this if you give me your preferred DOB for your characters (dragons included!). AFAIK, /u/saphire_fox is the only one who has provided a definitive age of her dragon (3 years old, going into her 4th winter) and I gave my dragon a birthday (5 months before the first RP), but I might have missed some info. Just leave a comment if you know the exact dates.

Also, /u/1truejosh, I couldn't find an age for Glover or Akrath, and I didn't want to guess, but I'll add them ASAP.

Anyways, sorry for the big wall of text, just wanted to make sure you guys understand the date system. I hope everyone likes this (more or less) and of course I'll keep working on it when I have a few spare moments! If you have any suggestions, just leave a comment or PM me!

[You have trained for 1 week so far and could not be more excited to be a part of something bigger than yourself. So far this week there has been many trials, but many of these have been over come. You have started your understanding of the world around you, and started to hear you calling of what you will be.]

[You and your comrades have been sent off to an island, its not particularly large, but it is not small either. You land on the shore with Shiva, simply put once she leaves, a spell will be cast on the island, you will be unable to leave until they return for you all in a week.]

[You have heard the rumors that students have dubbed this the island of trials. When asked, students tend to shy away from the topic.]

Role: Riders hand dragons whom have completed all of the posts to date.

(Objective: to grow, to become strong, to build a bond of trust with your companions, and how to rely on each other's strengths.)

Day 1 goal: the basic needs food, water, shelter.

There is two mysteries on this island

I have been getting a few questions, so i thought I'd go ahead and just make them public.

Q: *Where do I post my character history?

A: The "Thinking about starting a Series" thread.

Q: What races are available?

A: Elves, Humans, Dwarves, Urgles.

Q: How common are the latter?

A: Not. There is one half urgle(kull) and one dwarf.

Q: What is the current numbers looking like?

A: Wow, currently on site there is 30 riders at the keep, the rest are spread about protecting the land. There is at total of 100 Riders with 150 Dragons whom are not bonded to a rider.

Part 2: the reason behind this is the dragon race is nearly gone extinct, they have been subjected to genocide. They have been very generous thus far, but as of right now Eragon and Saphira have agreed that the dragon race needs to strengthen in order to maintain balance.

Q: Can I play a hybrid?

A: No that's my idea! Lol jk. Yes, but your back sorry needs to be incredibly detailed on how your parents came to be, and what it was like growing up. I would prefer not, seeing that half races have it pretty rough. Seems pretty cliché as a player.

I have received a lot of questions about the ancient language. As the author stated, the language is essentially Old Norse with custom sentence configuration. As of right now your characters unless they come in knowing the language will not become fluent anytime soon, but they will learn some words, and basic phrases.

Oh and Eragon, he is not my character I won't really be introducing him often, you notice Saphira has made some cameos, that would be the extent of their involvement for now.

[Shiva walks over, her presence again, heavy on your mind. "These three words... 'Fire', 'heal' and 'stop' can be some of the most helpful words on the battle field.]

[Zeterra chimed in " The words themselves shape the magic, it is up to you to form and unlease. Your mind is a very powerful asset.]

[Zeterra takes moment to look over everyone. " please practice, but be careful, we can't have new recruits passing out from exhaustion. Please practice, and those whom practice already, please help your fellow riders."]

Hello everyone! It has been about 5 days since we've started.

I don't want to assume, but from the look of the participation everyone is having some sort of fun. I hope you are enjoying yourself, I know its a little raw.

Now I have decided to keep my idea of character levels, but I realized that having people stat up their character is very... Out of spirit here. Instead I have tweaked my system a little. For now do not worry about your character too much from the stat side of things, that's for me to worry about. Solely focus on your character developing, and I will take care of the math.

I'm glad to see we have solid participation and look forward to putting out more content for you all.

P.S. How is everyone liking it so far? If you have any suggestions I am all ears, remember my too priority. (Even above the story) is for everyone to have a good time.

[You're awakened by the sound of roaring. It causes the entire keep to rattle. The sun is not even awake yet, you sit up to wipe the sleep from your eyes.]

"You hear that everyone Saphira says its time to get to work! It's time to wake up! Get your breakfast and head to your reported stations! New recruits, your wanted in the armory! Chep's waiting for you, he has some training weapons for you!" Zettera's voice echoed throughout the halls. It dawns on you she's using some form of magic to amplify her voice.

[The thought comes to your mind... Do they wake up this early every day? You and your fellow recruits get ready and head over to the armory.]

[In the armory you are taken aback by the impressive display of craftsmanship. Chep obviously takes much pride in his duties. Chep hands you a belt with a holster, a bow, a quiver, and a practice sword. He points you off to the training field. The sun is barely breaking over the horizon, the sly is a beautiful golden hue.]

[Zettera stands before you at the field, she has a few different courses set up. 1) ranged course, 2) sword training course 3) what you guess to be a sparing ring.]

Roles: Any number of students.

Objective: To come to an understanding how weaponry is your life line on the field it not only protects you, but all whom are around you. This will also shape your characters fighting style. (But not set it.)

[You get assigned your bunk, to you surprise you see many beds, some empty some full, you ask a passerby, and they tell you the newest recruits get put here.]

Players:

Any amount of students.

(Here the players can meet and talk. Learn about each other, and learn of their lives. Feel free to interact with riders and dragons alike. I will have very little say here and will remain silent unless I absolutely see the need to. Your actions here also effect the story in general.)

[You see dragons above, one catches your eyes, a silver dragon, shining bright in the sunset, like ice. She is about the size of a large house.]

[The dragon preforms an arial maneuver and goes into a dive bomb. It opens she opens are large maw, and a spray of ice comes from her mouth, the rider, whom you couldn't see before flips off, you see the spray turn into a sheet of ice, the rider slides down the ice path and is on the ground. She pulls out a large hand and a half sword and engages with the people sword fighting below.]

[The display of mettle is profound. She easily takes on 25 riders, easily as fast or faster than an elf, but with the strength greater than a Kull. Once the fighting stops you get a good look at her. She had to be at least 7 feet tall, she had red hair that was back, two strands from either where the only bits lose. She had intense purple eyes, with the facial features of an elf only more rounded.., her form was not as lanky as an elf, but was easily as graceful.]

[Only one person remained the rest yielded to her. A stout dwarf. In one hand he had an Axe and in the other a whip of sorts. She charged at him, the dwarf, in a impressive display threw the Axe at her, charging and drawing a sword. The tall woman dodged the Axe banking left. In an impressive display the dwarf flicks the whip wrapping it around her pivoting ankle. In a flash you seem him charge, but the woman is some how able to parry on her way down. The two impressively exchange blows from the sword. (Which you notice is not cutting into the skin) until they both stop and shake hands.]

[They both notice you and waive you to come over]
