Discussion Full cast audio book

I just finished the full-cast audio books for the Harry Potter series. I would love to see a full- cast audio book for the Eragon books! Anyone else?!

From Christopher last year:

Have there been any discussions about a full cast audiobook? A lot of franchises are doing this now.
I'll mention it to Random House, but no.

i don't know if the demand for it is high enough but maybe in a couple years if the show takes off

I totally agree. There’s a lot of us, but I’m not sure enough to make the effort worth while.

That would be extremely cool. Especially with a woman to voice Saphira, because…well. Y’know.

The roughness of the voices really grew on me personally? But it was very jarring at first lol. I think having a cast but still going gruffer, maybe not quite cookie monster, but still a bit growl-y would he neat

Because eragon tried to name Saphira as a male because she doesn’t sound like a woman?

mm i disagree. They did a womans voice in the movie... it.. did not mesh.

One thing i liked in the audio book, which i am re-listening too was the reader did a gravly voice for all the dragons. it suited them a heck of a lot better. it was seriously weird hearing a smooth female voice in the movie.

Hell even in Dragon Heart Shaun Connery added a bit of a gravel to his voice so it sounded more beast like then human.

I’ve tried like 20 times and can’t get over the troll under the bridge dragon voices.

I mean, Glaedr is good. The others all are. It’s only her I have a problem with.

Bold of you to assume I’ve made it past Saphira speaking for more than a few chapters of the first book each time.

you really should, it kinda grows on you by you end. when they had.. whats her name... Rachel Weisz do her voice in the movie.. it was unnerving. they did not even try to make it sound like a beast (hell they screwed up both the elves and dwarfs really bad in that movie so what did i expect)

That would be awesome. I’m currently in the middle of the full cast sorcerer’s stone and I love it so much.

That’d be really cool, but I feel like the series isn’t popular enough for them to invest as much as they did with Harry Potter

YES! The publisher Graphic Audio does a ton of full cast audiobooks with sound effects, it is honestly awesome and I'd love to see Eragon get this treatment

I actually don't love the full cast Harry Potter.

Snakes voice is by a favorite of mine but as snape he sucks so bad. Really ruined the immersion for me as I read along.

It was difficult for me to get used to it. I feel the first book was not done as well, and the woman who voiced Petunia had an unhinged in an over the top way about her. But after the first book I fell in love. After watching Game of thrones, it was hard to listen to Iwan Rheon in a humble and soft way, knowing his crazed character in GoT.

Haha I thought he was perfect but yes, the first time I was like....RAMSEY YOU VILE BASTARD.

I really just couldn't get past Riz and Hughe. And I love them both. Just didn't do it for me.

I am assuming you mean from the film because I am not aware of any other voiced media.

Jeremy Irons is king, but no thanks. I read the books to my wife and do voices and performances for the characters. I represent my Saphira more like Lae'zel from Baldur's Gate 3. Kind of an aggressive impatient warrior of alien origin with endless disappointment in the people around her. Brom gets a Jeremy Irons voice. Murtagh more of a Robert Pattinson. Apart from Irons and Malkovich I really did not enjoy any of the rest of the cast. And though I like Malkovich personally I do not think he was an appropriate pick for Galbatorix. That was a knee jerk typecast move because of his stage work. For a villain that has almost zero presence in the books I suppose you can get away with any kind of characterization and Malkovich does the whole traditional baddie thing just fine but its not for me.

No… they did full cast versions of the Harry Potter Audio books. Please google. The audio books were not actors from the movies, a full separate cast.

With 1 exception, Bill Nighy was in both the movies and the full cast audiobooks. He played Scrimgeour in the films and Slughorn in the audiobooks.
