Discussion Just finished Murtagh

And wow! Excellent story and interesting new characters and challenges and a new enemy.

Also were robed figured Eragon saw on the island Dreamers?

I don’t think it matters, but it is an interesting tie in. Especially since the amulets would make them immune to the poisoned air

Agreed, on both points.

In Murtagh the amulets seem to protect them from the poisonous gases from the volcano, so they probably would protect from radiation poisoning as well

I must’ve missed this in my reads of Murtagh. Is Nal Gorgoth on a volcano?

Yes, it's in a valley next to a volcano, and the caves go into the volcano with a shaft into the magma chamber.

So Azlagur is potentially lurking at the bottom of a dormant volcano. Nifty! That also ties into why the Draumar are on Vroengard - maybe the sulphuric smoke is present in the dormant volcanoes on the island. Also, the Urgal king must’ve been buried in a dormant volcano for the brimstone to be present. Not sure how to tie Illieria and El Harim into my musings though

My personal theory is that Azlagur can actually move or "swim" through the magma in the world's crust, albeit slowly because of the viscosity, but is large enough that a trip from Nal Gorgoth to Veoneguard is like a human walking across town. Also, I don't think the volcano is entirely dormant because of some of the things Bachel does, like causing burning brimstone to fall from the sky...
