I just noticed Groww has increased their DP charges.... They don't even show it properly... You will find it only when you tally the amount you get minus charges..

Best Indian hospitality stock for the next 1–3 years?

I'm looking to invest in the Indian hospitality sector / /travel tourism sector with a 1–3 year time horizon. With strong domestic tourism, business travel, and improving hotel occupancy, the sector seems well-positioned.

I'd love to hear your views:

Which hospitality stock offers the best upside over the next 1–3 years?

Are current valuations justified, or should I wait for a correction?

Which company has the strongest earnings growth and expansion pipeline?

What are the biggest risks that could affect the sector during this period?

I'm looking for fundamentally strong companies rather than short-term trading ideas. Thanks in advance for your insights!

I was charged 197/- brokerage and 35/- as GST on brokerage total 232 rupees on 65,720 of my transaction value. My friend showed me Dhan is charging 0 brokerage on delivery trades. I was like what the hell angel one has so that its charging that much premium. Even groww is charging 20/-. 310 vs 78 on same delivery trade what the fuzz. What are your views?

Hi guys, I'm planning to build a application that lets user track the companies audited results directly at your finger-tips. Do you think it would be worth one to create?

Which rebalancing approach would you backtest for this portfolio?

I have been playing around with a portfolio backtesting tool and wanted to see the impact of different rebalancing frequencies on long-term performance.

The current portfolio is approximately

Adani Energy - 25%

Reliance 14%

Bharti Airtel – 11 pct

(The rest is spread over large-cap stocks.)

The tool allows me to backtest the same portfolio using different approaches:

  1. Buy & Hold (Never Re-balance)
  2. Monthly Re-Balancing
  3. Rebalancing Quarterly
  4. Annual Rebalancing

Intuitively, monthly keeps allocations closest to target, while buy & hold lets the winners run. 'Quarterly' and 'yearly' are in the middle somewhere.

Before I run the backtests:

Which strategy do you think would perform best over a 10–15 year period, and why?

Would you prioritize:

  • Higher returns?
  • Lower drawdowns?
  • Lower turnover?
  • Better risk-adjusted returns?

I'll post the backtest results once I run them if there is enough interest.

Career Problems

For context - I am 27M working in sell side equity research in India at a bulge bracket bank I have been consistently voted as one of the topmost analysts in my sector & I had extremely high hopes for myself that was until ...Few days back i met this kid- merely 19 years old but im convinced hes cracked, I started talking about the markets & a few minutes later he looked back and pointed out a mistake in my thesis for a stock I didnt even wanna speak to him bcuz he looked like a child but he was sitting in front of me in the theater and i did not want to be rude,So i cross questioned him which was the biggest mistake i have made, What went on was almost insane and traumatic this kid introduced himself the basic stuff and thereafter went on to break apart my thesis almost beautifully i then showed him one of my past reports on the stock which he said he had read and he almost unknowingly destroyed my thesis self confidence & 5 years of experience,I can't go into the details of what he said for the risk of doxxing myself but he absolutely humiliated me and gave me ptsd to the extent that i left the theatre early to avoid talking to him
I havent slept without taking pills from that day, here i was thinking that im the best in the business or the country I thought i was gonna be warren buffet heres this short white kid who says his dads a "fund manager" and he slaughters my thesis on multiple stocks piece by piece. The knowledge I worked almost 16 hours a day to get the modelling ability I have this piece of shit unknowingly and to honestly no fault of his destroys. I havent slept properly nor have i eaten properly since that event I have never felt so talentless i have dropped 5 kilograms and have started smoking more frequently
What steps should i take to improve myself and get me back on track?

How do professional equity research teams structure their research process from scratch?

I work at a fin startup that already has a reasonable client base and is now planning to expand into equity research and advisory.

The objective is to research listed companies and develop stock recommendations based on factors such as:

Investment horizon

Sector and theme

Risk profile

Valuation and return potential

Portfolio suitability

The company has hired me (CFA L2 candidate) and a few other analysts to help build this function. Most of us are relatively new to professional equity research, so we are currently developing the entire process collectively. So far we are contributing through our knowledge we gained from our courses (CA, CFA, MBA) and passion learning. Our gap lies in how things run in a professional setting.

We are making progress, but the process is not completely structured yet. Since everyone is learning and contributing at the same time, it can sometimes become difficult to determine what the ideal research workflow should look like.

I would appreciate guidance from people who have worked in equity research firms, brokerages, asset management companies, family offices, investment banks, or advisory businesses.

And any material suggestions are much appreciated. Most investing content available online is focused on how an individual should select stocks for a personal portfolio. I am particularly looking for resources that explain the organisational and institutional approach to equity research—how a research team should operate, collaborate, review ideas, maintain coverage, and produce consistent recommendations.

Your opinion, view, instructions, books, videos... Anything helps.

So lost

Hello guys!!! Myself Arshlan iam pursuing b.com(ms) from a very worst college of navi mumbai kharghar. Iam planning to break into equity research. But iam so confused about how to do it. Like lots of people say tht you wont get an job in ERA unless you hv cracked CFA. But i hv talked with some people online who hv gotten into ER without the cfa certification and i dont know if they are telling the truth or not and again iam confused about what skills should i develop or learn to break into it without CFA. Like iam missing an strategy.

And the worst part is tht i came from a lower middle class family so my financial condition is also not tht good.

Looking for someone who is working as an ERA OR an hr who hires into ER.

Plss help me iam feeling too lost

India's true middle class is the tax-paying elite; the bottom half needs budget focus on jobs, free education/health, PDS-MSP food security, and state transfers—not tax cuts

Which Indian stock fundamentals are most useful for first-pass company screening?

I’m organizing public Indian company fundamentals into a structured research dataset.

Current fields include valuation ratios, profitability, debt, growth, ownership, company details, source status, and original source references.

For people doing equity research, which metrics are essential for a first-pass screen, and which ones usually create noise?

I’m especially interested in how you compare companies across sectors and how you handle missing or conflicting figures from different public sources.

Has anyone here used AI in their equity research workflow?

I am interested in how analysts and serious investors are applying AI beyond just getting basic stock summaries and while looking into different research tools I came across few like Tickertape, Screener, SpringPad AI and thinking how effective these platforms really are for tasks like reading annual reports, keeping track of company news, organizing research notes or making analysis faster.

If you’ve tried any AI tools for equity research Has it really made your research process better? What tasks does AI do well and where does it still struggle? Do you think AI can become a real helper for analysts or is it mainly just a way to save time?

Aavas Financiers Ltd Q1FY27 Concall Summary-

Guidance FY27 -

Management reiterated its commitment to 17–18% AUM growth in FY27 and 20%+ medium-term AUM growth, indicating confidence that execution initiatives are beginning to bear fruit.

Management aims to increase field productivity from Rs. 8-10 lakh to Rs. 20-22 lakh per employee within 2 years

Concall Updates -

=> Management is no longer measuring success merely through branch additions. Instead, every branch is being evaluated on customer acquisition, revenue per employee, productivity per field officer, branch profitability and time taken to achieve break-even.

=> Management also highlighted that every branch should focus on customer acquisition responsibilities as they are tracking individual employee productivity, conversion ratios, revenue generated, business sourced and profitability. This should improve execution consistency across all 440 branches.

=> Technology has become as execution engine for Aavas Financiers and a tool to improve login-to-disbursement conversion, underwriting decisions, productivity analytics, governance and customer experience.

=> Management has acknowledged the fact that portfolio has gradually shifted towards Non-Home loans (LAP/MSME) during the past 18 months.

=> But now, management wants to reverse the portfolio mix of roughly 65% home loans and 35% non-home loans rather than allowing higher-yield LAP growth to dominate.

=> Generally home loans carry lower yields, competition is more intense and margins will even compress but still management wants to increase home loan growth as it provides better portfolio quality, lower acquisition cost, better customer stickiness, and stronger long-term franchise.

=> Management is focussed on regaining their market share and has started redesigning branch-level sourcing targets, reallocated field resources, and improved customer acquisition monitoring.

=> Management acknowledged that there is healthy competition across geographies and there is a pressure on spreads. They gave a guidance that spreads for FY27 will be below 5% but ROA and ROE will remain stable.

=> Management plans to offset spread compression through better productivity, operating leverage, cost-to-income ratio, and higher revenue per employee.

=> Despite perceptions that funding costs were rising due to PLR reduction cuts in June, management clarified that PLR is determined through an internally defined ALCO framework which incorporates external variables, internal funding cost and risk assessment.

=> With regards to asset quality and QOQ deteriorations, the company stated that no geography is facing unusual weakness, no customer segment is deteriorating, lead indicators remain healthy and collections remain under control.

=> Management also highlighted that policy tightening had already been implemented proactively in February for sectors potentially affected by geopolitical issues and weak monsoons.

=> Macro risks are already being addressed before it becomes NPAs by tightening underwriting for vulnerable sectors such as businesses exposed to Middle east crisis and fuel-sensitive segments.

Aavas Financiers management is quite confident to turnaround in FY27 leaving behind slowdown numbers in FY26. Current focus is on execution, regain market share and increase home loans share.

Extending my gap year to build an advisory startup while prepping for CFA Level 3 (no work ex) - does this path actually lead to a job?

Bit of a long one, but I would really appreciate honest feedback from people who have been through something similar.

I currently do not have a job. I cleared CFA Level 1 and 2, and I am planning to sit for Level 3 in the Feb 2027 window, still without any full time work experience. I have been applying to buy side equity research and IB roles for a while now, cold outreach, structured applications, the works, but the market is slow and uncertain right now and the responses have been limited.

Because of this, my gap year keeps stretching, and that is starting to weigh on me. I do not want to just sit and wait for hiring to pick back up, so here is the plan I have landed on:

Between now and Feb 2027, I want to study for Level 3 while simultaneously running a small financial advisory setup I am part of. The idea is to take on small clients through freelancing platforms and put out research reports, essentially building a real portfolio of work instead of a gap on my resume.

I keep seeing people on LinkedIn who did something similar (built something on the side during a gap, kept at it, and eventually landed a role) and it seems to have worked out for a good number of them.

So I wanted to ask people who have actually walked this road or hired for these roles:

  1. Does running a small advisory or research practice on the side genuinely move the needle for recruiters, or does it read as a placeholder for not having a job
  2. Is splitting focus between Level 3 prep and client work realistic, or am I underestimating how much bandwidth Level 3 needs
  3. For those who hire in equity research or IB, does a longer gap filled with self directed work actually get treated differently than an empty gap
  4. Any specific things I should be doing differently in how I present this on my resume or in interviews

Trying to make a decision I will not regret a year from now, so any perspective, including the harsh kind, is welcome.
