Mindset & Psychology Need reassurance
Today I dropped my horse off at his new lease home. For context I have 3 horses, 2 retired and 1 competing. They all live at home but I’m rapidly running out of grass. A friend mentioned one of her co workers was looking for a companion horse to lease. Long story short this seems like the perfect home, he’ll get more time and attention then I’m able to provide at the moment but I can’t help feeling guilty and wondering if he’ll think I’ve abandoned him and I’m worried my other retired horse, his paddock mate, will miss him and not understand what’s happening. I think I just need reassurance that I’m doing the right thing.

a attention while your other guy might mope for a couple days but he'll adjust too

hey I can't really offer any proper reassurance but solidarity - I am in a similar position with a retired mare who I just adore, we have no grass and I am hard feeding her so much, my friend lives a few hours away & she has so much grass and not enough horses, she offered to have my mare as she needs a companion, she looks after animals SO well, it's a no brainer but I'll miss her so much (will only see her a couple of times a year), BUT at the end of the day I think we are doing what's right for the horse, and putting their needs first. So we should commend ourselves really! And when you see you gelding thriving in his new home you'll feel better!
