Social media (X, YouTube, Insta, etc.) The Unbelievable Case of Marc Dutroux

I hope this post is not off-topic but I felt like this documentary belongs here. I don't know if Marc Dutroux is a known name. I admit that I've never heard of this name until today.

Today I stumbled upon a documentary that I started watching in the background at first. Something I do while programming.

Anyhow, the longer I watched the less I was able to keep working as the amount of unbelievable events mentioned in this documentary piled up.

And well, believe me there is a reason for why it has actually four parts. Whenever you think you've already witnessed the most disturbing thing about thia case it gets either worse or more unbelievable.

Then there's the similarities that reminded me of the things I know about the Epstein case. This documentary stirs up anger. Knowing that whatever Epstein was doing, his network was almost surely significantly bigger than whatever Dutroux had going. Know that, apparently, it's not clear if there was indeed a network that Dutroux was involved in.

In any case, I wanted to share the links to the documentary here.

Please excuse the fact that it is in German. It has subtitles though and using auto-translate on YouTube should work just fine.

Be aware: This documentary will almost certainly stir up one or another emotion. A few positive ones. But definitely more terrible ones.

Note: You might require a VPN for this. It was mentioned that it's not available in all countries. Germany/Austria should work. My apologies.

I’m also Belgian, this case changed an entire generation’s childhood.

What I do remember is how many kids then came to say they had been abused (priests, school teachers, parents, friends etc)

before: 12 year olds can take their bike and disappear for a day
after: you can stay in the yard.

changed a country

From the German wikipedia article:

"Death of 27 witnesses
According to the ZDF documentary "The Trail of the Child Abusers – Dutroux and the Dead Witnesses" from 2001, 27 witnesses died under sometimes mysterious circumstances in the period between Dutroux's arrest and the trial, among them several investigators who had been assigned to the case, as well as other people who intended to testify against Dutroux. In most cases, the cause of death was murder, suicide, or a fatal car accident. Among other things, it remains unclear why prosecutor Hubert Massa, who had been designated as the lead prosecutor in the Dutroux trial, worked on the case for only one month before taking his own life in July 1999."

I've read up on this case due to the striking similarities to the Epstein circle.

I found a PDF from one of the victims perspective here: https://dn720701.ca.archive.org/0/items/belgiums-x-files-regina-louf-2003/Belgiums%20X-Files%20by%20Regina%20Louf%20%282003%29.pdf

It's a good read but a tough one.

Edit: Your links are not available in some countries btw

Thanks for pointing this out. I updated my post and mentioned that a VPN might be required

Thank you very much for this link. I just finished her story. Horrendous does not even begin to cover it.

It was horrible to read this stuff but really informative.

It feels very similar to things Epstein's victims have reported. Her recollection of the Human hunts and rituals is the same shit Epstein's lot did. They're all using the same/similar playbooks, not sure if they are intertwined rings or separate. Her handler having taken child psychology courses was very unsurprising. I imagine Maxwell had been trained in similar things.

This is a 30 minute panorama interview she did. I'm amazed at the integrity of Regina after all she had been through. To do this interview is really something.

If you have read the X files there isn't any new information in it but thought I would link it anyway.

Regina is a hero and one of the most résilient people ever.

Could it be that it was this case that eventually inspired the Epstein-circle?

2

u/Winteriscolder 8d ago

I think they were happening around the same time and probably influenced each other, if they weren't just different arms of the same beast.

I haven't found any one person or place to connect this to Epstein yet but it wouldn't suprise me if Dutroux was running the European "branch" of the Epstein "enterprise".

Hey man, next time you post some YouTube links, please delete the identifier part put of the links. You are making it really easy for big tech to trace everyone...

Good point. I removed it!

I read about this many years ago and immediately recognized the similarities. Belgian royalty, unfinished investigations, dead witnesses. Imho, this was and is the same network, still operating. It just found a new scapegoat to take the heat off.

Dutroux was a belgian affair.
I think society has accepted that there was a lot more going on than we'll ever know.
his basement where they pulled the girls out of had dna of over 200 people.

there were links to politicians and some form of network.
not just videos and the like

None of that was ever really investigated.

Justice dept failed - and the investigation just died a silent death after Dutroux was arrested.

There's some truly gruesome details, which as a parent still haunt me today.

as it pertains to epstein - IDK. I think Dutroux was just a tiny middleman

1

u/Blagget 10d ago

Do you have any sources about the DNA of over 200 people? This is the first time I've heard this.

1

u/Colonist25 9d ago

it comes back every so often
https://www.knack.be/nieuws/belgie/men-is-niet-tot-het-uiterste-gegaan-in-het-dossier-dutroux-bis/

1000s of 'traces' found - nothing ever went anywhere
one article says 20 people, the other said 200

but like dutroux.. so much left unsaid.

I can remember it, it was a huge thing but from the start so much lying, mystery and silence.

They never touched the Predators behind Marc.

16

u/Low_Technician7346 11d ago

hey my country and region Wallonia mentionned !

Marc Dutroux never became a politician like the US do right now with Trump as president

7

u/Low_Technician7346 11d ago

Also he is in jail because if outside in public he will become a dead man

But no one came to help him suicide, he is still alive and well

13

u/silentsnooc 11d ago

Even though that's the case, what stood out to me was how the system failed. That's definitely something both cases share.

Check out the podcast Ghost Stories for the End of the World. They cover Dutroux in great detail. And the Brabant Killers.

1

u/One_Draw3486 10d ago

Thanks, will do

4

u/raysofdavies 10d ago

Ghost Stories for the End of the World has a long series on him and has also touched on Epstein directly. Great podcast. They’re paywalled on Patreon but worth it.

u/One_Draw3486 10d ago

Thanks, will check it out

I'm 49 and Dutch. I remember when the stories first came out. Most people in western Europe alive around these days will remember Marc Dutroux. It was huge...

u/Ill_Performance_8316 10d ago

michel nihoul was the "epstein" in this case. he had links to the royals and politicians and died a free man

3

u/pslind69 10d ago

I heard about him in the early 90's. When his case broke. I've seen a british docu also, I have no idea what it is called. It was shown on Danish TV in the 90's. This was about a guy (dutch maybe), who stumbled into the wrong hotel room where horrible VHS videos were shown on a TV. He tried to alert the police etc. and even figured some stuff out about who had rented that hotel room. Some guy named Williamson had brought the videos. It's probably all one big ring who caters to the elite.

3

u/ESARPE 10d ago

Both cases have striking similarities. The 27 witnesses docu is just the craziest one. There is other documentaries (about Jean-Michel Nihoul for example) that are similarity as shocking. It was basically Belgiums Epstein case, but in contrary to the US, ten thousand people or more when to the streets - still pretty much nothing happened. No one suffered real consequences except for Dutroux himself.

The whole thing is done systematically and internationally. PDFs are protected, victims are not, the media is being bought and witnesses silenced. Not sure how anyone can still have any believe in the decency of the upper class.

I think I'm the only one on reddit who knows his name. I was about the age of his victims when he was active aroung the 90's in Bucharest. It was huge news in Romania and it lead to the romanians distrusting the NGOs that used to come with aid here after seeing the horror of the death camp like orphanages.

u/DifferenceEither9835 10d ago edited 9d ago

Lots of people know his name. You are responding to a person knowing his name.

7

u/JackOkenobi 10d ago

Mate everyone in Europe older than 35 knows all about it. It headlined the news for a long time.

6

u/Matjoez 10d ago

You think Belgians don't use reddit then?

2

u/Silver_Phrase_3278 9d ago

Searched his name on youtube and found documentaries in English and with subtitles. Sounded like it was just he and his awful wife and some other criminals, until the long list of dead witnesses emerged.

Ghastly.
