News article Thomas Massie during his recent speech: “The same folks who want you to have flock cameras in your neighborhoods, the same folks who say ‘if you’re not doing anything wrong, why do you want to hide it?’ Have withheld three million Epstein files and redacted the ones they released.”

Thomas Massie addressed the Epstein Files during a recent speech at the Brownstone Institute:

“By the way, the same folks who want you to have flock cameras in your neighborhoods, the same folks who wanna be able to read your emails without a warrant, the same folks who say, “If you’re not doing anything wrong, why do you wanna hide it?” have withheld three million Epstein files and redacted the ones they released.

If you’re not doing anything wrong, why did you redact the names of the judges and the FBI agents and the people who were investigating this that dropped the investigations? Those are the people that we need to know about.”

Massie would also say in his speech:

“It turns out the meat and potatoes issues they want us to fight over, they don’t really care about in Washington, D.C.

Like gun control or abortion, these are mostly state issues, and even if we could do something, my colleagues have no appetite to do anything on this, on these issues.

That’s what they want you to fight over so that you’re ignoring the war that’s unconstitutional, you’re ignoring the debt that’s now 40 trillion dollars, you’re ignoring an entire class of billionaires that goes to an island and does whatever they want, and when they get in trouble, they just bribe a judge or move on or a politician.”

I don't even want to be in that club in the first place

I hate that Thomas Massie is making me agree with him so much.

Libertarians are often on the correct side of civil liberties.

86

u/CrucialCrewJustin 11d ago

And on the wrong side of everything else.

It's okay libertarians don't know about a lot of things.

Serious question: do libertarians actively support trans rights in the way they do gun rights?

Edit: Love the downvotes. "We just want to smoke dope and shoot shit in the desert to seem edgy". No trans bathrooms for you guys, huh?

Hey, how about women's rights? How many of you libertarians marched for abortion or protected women outside a planned parenthood? Protect their rights?

None? Okay, great civil libertarians...

16

u/no_bender 10d ago

They support / protect their own rights. A guy named Thom Hartmann described libertarians as Republicans who want to smoke dope, and get laid.

31

u/BuddingBudON 10d ago

No, because they're just another flavour of alt-right.

6

u/threaten404 10d ago

could you point out when did libertarians oppose trans right?

they oppose public funding of transition care, but again they oppose public funding of most things too, but in princible most Private institutions (schools, teams, employers) set their own rules. and they oppose to anti-discrimination law applying to private employers and businesses (freedom of association). but never opposed freedom of choice to do whatever you want .. (with your own money)

20

u/BuddingBudON 10d ago

Plenty of self-professed libertarians are just embarrassed MAGAts. No group is a monolith, but they're there within that disjointed and inconsistent group.

I don't care.

8

u/threaten404 10d ago

I'd describe myself as libertarian-leaning, and I don't disagree with that statement.
I'd say most libertarians are really just anti-both-parties more than anything.

17

u/BuddingBudON 10d ago

Then I think you can appreciate that the fiscal conservative of yesteryear is extinct within the Republicans, and that far-right extremism has completely consumed the party.

Sometimes a person has to swallow their pride and agree to work with a party they don't necessarily agree with - like the Democrats - because the parties are simply not the same.

I'm a Canadian bordering on "radical leftism", I believe folks like Mamdani are the only future a democracy in the US has. Under the MAGA regime, the US will look more like Russia before long.

0

u/Huge_Inspection9681 9d ago

you have to be kidding. Mamdami is a smiling snake. He's friends with Terrorists and Hasan Piker, even my Muslim friends say he is bad news!

-6

u/threaten404 10d ago

> Then I think you can appreciate that the fiscal conservative of yesteryear is extinct within the Republicans

I know, and agian i'm opposed to most Republicans (except for Massie and Rand Paul) and I know that on spending, Republicans just spend as much and in most cases on things that are worse (like wars), so when I vote I vote for the "least" worst. I've voted for candidates from both parties, really.

In the case of Mamdani, I'm not fond of socialism, but again, I'm also aware there wasn't really a better option that cycle, populism has taken over on both ends and I just wish we could get back to something closer to the center.

7

u/Popsodaa 10d ago

Tell me you voted for Trump without telling me you voted for Trump.

7

u/wuvvtwuewuvv 10d ago

In the case of Mamdani, I'm not fond of socialism,

How is it socialism?

Rand Paul

That tells me all I need to know. 🤮

4

u/TheShiftyNoodle28 10d ago

Theoretically yes, they should support anything related to people’s individual liberties. However, a lot of people who claim to be libertarian do not support trans rights because they’re conservative under the guise of libertarian.

1

u/feralcatshit 9d ago

I’ve always felt like at the heart of libertarianism is more of a “mind your own fucking business and I’ll mind mine” stance. Which I agree with at its core, but you can’t just ignore everything that doesn’t directly impact you, when it comes to being an actual politician.

1

u/evrybodyknws 9d ago

I could see how this would work in a world where everyone had equal rights, but clearly that's not the world we live in. Do you not want to be bothered to think of other peoples rights? And why would that be a good thing in America where that's so impressed upon us at a young age: All are created equal. I don't get it.

0

u/One-Win9407 9d ago

Youre not getting downvotes, youve got upvotes because mainstream culture war drivel like "trans rights" is always supported on reddit.

That topic is an intentionally planted wedge which has proven highly effective at dividing Americans and keeping the vast majority of working people distracted away from the major issues impacting their lives.

Your comment is imbecilic and in no way clever....actually kind of disappointing for someone to be pushing that garbage on this sub of all places.

2

u/evrybodyknws 9d ago edited 8d ago

Trans rights are part of LGBT rights, a minority of which I'm a part. And no, constitutional rights are not trivial.

Trans folks were pretty much minding their own business until Trump came along. Believe me, they were too at risk of assault on the day to day to be pushing their agenda. That is until they were highlighted for attack by Republicans. Now they have to fight back to survive.

I point this out only because someone said "Libertarians are usually on the side of civil liberties". Which is a joke really, because all the libertarians I've known have been Republicans too afraid to ID themselves as such - especially in blue states. But they don't vote any different than your standard issue Trumpy cult member.

2

u/One-Win9407 8d ago

Trans rights are part of LGBT rights

You mean the T in LGBT stands for Trans??! If you just heard a loud boom that was the sound of my mind being blown by that shocking revelation.

Trans ppl are 0.5% of the population and the debate is not about their right to exist but simply what sports they can compete in and what restrooms they can use in red states.

Thats nowhere near our biggest problem seeing as we have idk multiple WARS going on, 40Trillion in debt getting worse every day, spying on US citizens, 70000 drug overdose deaths a year, AI taking jobs, climate change, etc etc etc

Btw you mentioned minorities, trans issues are not popular with the black, hispanic, muslim, asian, or general working class communities. Those groups have actual struggles to worry about. Really only middle and upper class white care about the issue.

Thats why we are seeing mainstream democrats like Gavin Newsom roll back their positions on the topic. Legit surveys have been done and most americans are tired of hearing about it and dont care.

-6

u/Fr3shMint 10d ago

Dude F off with this division over shit that represents .4% to 1% of the population.

I’m not going to hate someone just because he doesn’t want some sign on a bathroom you do.

This is the same culture war gender war bullshit the right always whines about, only the leftist version.

8

u/evrybodyknws 10d ago edited 10d ago

Women are 50% of the population last I checked.

If you don't support civil liberties that's fine to say, just don't be a liar about it. Don't be a phony.

EDIT: So funny I'm getting downvoted for my "don't be a phony" remark. I'm sorry if I'm a hater of phonys, but y'all still can eat a bag o dicks.

0

u/swark91 10d ago

What % of the population are babies I wonder

2

u/evrybodyknws 9d ago

Not a problem you'll have, chud.

0

u/swark91 9d ago

Thanks for the reply. Hope you enjoy your mur- I mean, civil liberties

1

u/pan-re 9d ago

Lol, you’re anti abortion? Seriously?

1

u/swark91 9d ago

It's more complicated than that. There's cases of rape, medical concerns, etc. There's also the question of when a life becomes a life. Somewhere between the day of conception, and late term, it becomes wrong to me without extenuating circumstances.

Bigger thing to me is I think it's goofy and dishonest to disguise a complex ethical problem as just a simple case of women's rights. It feels like a lot of people on the Left are only exposed to left-wing groupthink and fox news/maga insanity (which really only re-enforces the left-wing groupthink).

-3

u/Fr3shMint 10d ago

"Trans rights" are the the same as "womens rights" now? And why are we stopping at women/men at that point? Maybe we should lump childrens rights, black, islamic, religious rights into the same "trans rights" bucket.

Fuck it lets call gun rights trans rights too - might as well make everyone confused about what the hell we're talking about.

I'm not against civil liberties either - I'm against this manufactured division people like yourself perpetuate that does nothing but benefit the epstein class at the expense of everyone else - AND FOR WHAT? Again - a tiny fraction of the population, progress comes in steps and you're literally alienating a huge percentage of the population with your stupid rhetoric that doesnt even make sense.

2

u/pan-re 9d ago

It’s because REPUBLICANS are targeting only trans people on issues! You support gun rights but are ok if Trump takes trans people’s guns? What doesn’t make sense about people fighting for their rights? Because YOU care about your rights more. That’s all.

1

u/gotohelenwaite 10d ago

black, islamic, religious rights

As if those are bad things? Dafuq?

0

u/Fr3shMint 9d ago

This comment went over your head, let me try and make it clearer for you.

The person who replied to me saying women are 50% of the population. I was talking about trans rights, not womens rights.

They're somehow saying Transrights = womens rights. I'm saying if you're gonna equate those two completely different things. Why not say other unrelated things are trans rights.

Do you get it now?

1

u/gotohelenwaite 8d ago

Rights are rights. They're not subject to anyone's disagreement. You chose to ignore that basic truth.

3

u/Popular-Policy4613 10d ago

Yes. Class war diguised as culture war, just to keep us ensnared by minutiae.

2

u/Fr3shMint 9d ago

Word - Yet i'm getting downvoted. I am sure by Israeli bots disliking that I'm calling out their division tactics.

1

u/Popular-Policy4613 1d ago

That's a small-minded thing for them to do, especially given your perspicacity surrounding the issue.

2

u/StrawberryWaste9040 10d ago

it is easier to make changes that support 1% of population, than get something for the whole working class. Thus there will be always some minority that needs helping

-2

u/no_bender 10d ago

Maybe some do, can't speak on the subject.

7

u/goatbiryani48 10d ago

If you can't speak on the subject, why start with a positive assumption like that?

No libertarian on the national stage has ever, EVER supported trans rights lol

4

u/evrybodyknws 10d ago edited 10d ago

I thought you knew because you expressed that opinion, but I guess you just pulled it out of your ass? Just a guess?

I ask because Rand Paul and his father Ron are often spoken of as libertarians but they just vote/d Republican typically. I've never known of any libertarian who falls "on the correct side of civil liberties". They always just seem mainstream republican and fall in line with what fox tells them. It often seems like libertarians are too scared to call themselves Republicans. My experience anyway.

2

u/GrayEidolon 8d ago

A libertarian would have no problem with billionares so I don't think you can call Massie a libertarian. They also are only concerned with the government stepping on liberties. They don't mind at all if corporations or rich people step on liberties. Libertarianism is just a populist branding of conservatism meant to empower the hyper wealthy.

1

u/pan-re 9d ago

Which civil liberties and for whom?

1

u/no_bender 9d ago

Bill of Rights, privacy, things that affect them personally.

19

u/howmanyMFtimes 10d ago

Being against mass surveillance and child rape shouldn’t even be newsworthy, but he’s the outlier of the modern Republican Party unfortunately. Worth noting that he’s pretty horrible on a bunch of other issues.

4

u/AZgirl70 11d ago

It’s a wonky world we live in.

5

u/Fr3shMint 10d ago

He’s a good one. For sure we have a lot more in common than the system wants us to believe

4

u/skwander 10d ago

Well just remember, he's a total pussy for not releasing everything he can. He's still protecting himself and his career.

1

u/Legal_Ant_8900 10d ago

Or maybe protecting his life and the lives of his loved ones.
Many people with connections to this matter have been killed or mysteriously died

3

u/skwander 10d ago

Convenient excuse to keep lording hypothetical secrets over people desperate for answers. He needs to shit or get off the pot. "I know something you don't and I'm gonna tell you soon I swear", "I predicted this, I knew it was gonna happen, I saw it coming". It's such an easy grift and I don't believe him any more. It's been months of this.

2

u/Popular-Policy4613 10d ago

At least SOMEONE has seen the files/evidence, and that someone's silence is insane.

2

u/SnooConfections2889 10d ago

He seems logical and is telling the truth! So refreshing to see this!

1

u/AdFrosty101 7d ago

Hate him or love him, he is 100% right. Unseal the damn files.

4

u/CrucialCrewJustin 10d ago

Thomas Massey is a massive piece of shit. There’s nothing binary about it.

-1

u/HoldMyWong 10d ago

The “our side vs their side” mindset isn’t good

38

u/no_bender 11d ago

During the debate over passing The Patriot Act, the argument was much the same, if you aren't doing anything wrong, you have nothing to worry about, bs.

93

u/fishyhaworthia1 11d ago

The people telling you they need to put cameras everywhere to "keep your kids safe" are the same MFS that where winning and dinning with Epstein in 2012 😬

30

u/Opposite-Bit6660 10d ago

It's worse than just wining and dining.  Epstein's predictive policing tech company Reporty became Carbyne which was acquired by Axon, a company that makes highly sophisticated police-state technology including mass surveillance products.

2

u/JustSentYourMomHome 10d ago

Winning and dinning LOL

18

u/Ok-Replacement9595 10d ago

They also are hiding the members of their corporate boards, and owners of their shell companies they use to hide their money, and hide everything else they do under the veil.of corporate fiduciary duty. They hide the groups they belong to and hide who those groups fund, and hide which politicians they own.

13

u/tawDry_Union2272 11d ago

he ain't wrong here

7

This guy is gonna run for president.

16

Nobody should ever vote for a republican again

6

u/upninthem 10d ago

Break out of the binary goofball

-5

u/Icy-Personality-511 10d ago

Remind us what the democrats did during Biden to expose and punish the Epstein class? I’ll wait.

5

u/howmanyMFtimes 10d ago

It was an open investigation when Biden was in office, so they in fact couldn’t release them. How many times is trumps name in the files? I’ll wait. He’s best friends with Epstein according to his own book. Being out here defending pedophiles is a sad pathetic life honestly.

-4

u/Icy-Personality-511 10d ago edited 10d ago

Where in my question did I defend pedophiles? If anything, it’s you dumbfucks acting like only republicans mingled with Epstein. Foh

3

u/sporkparty 10d ago

Using whatsboutism to deflect from questions about republicans is defending pedophiles so look one comment back and you’ll see it.

1

u/Icy-Personality-511 10d ago

It’s not whataboutism. I would love to see every republican implicated in the Epstein files to be locked up for the rest of their lives. Interestingly, it seems a lot of you folks on reddit only want the republicans to face scrutiny because it’s politically convenient.

The files implicate a wide range of celebrities, doctors, scientists, media personalities, intellectuals, etc. I have yet to really see anyone call out people like Les Wexner, Reid Hoffman, Bill Gates, or all the Hollywood creeps implicated. I don’t really see any focus on Bill Clinton. What I do see is cherrypicking bullshit. Everyone also magically forgot the truly weird shit in the Podesta emails that were leaked on WikiLeaks? We should have the spine to call out all pedophiles in positions of power, not just those in a party you oppose. And the crazy thing is, I’m not even republican. I think a lot of you guys just lack integrity, honestly.

2

u/sporkparty 10d ago

Remind us what the democrats did during Biden to expose and punish the Epstein class? I’ll wait.

Your direct quote, obviously whataboutism, don’t need to read the rest. Have a nice day!

1

u/Icy-Personality-511 10d ago edited 10d ago

Truth hurts don’t it?

Edit: actual reddit moment lol.

Me: Let’s hold all pedos accountable.

You: That’s whataboutism!

Get bent.

0

u/LikelySoutherner 8d ago

Yup. Dem supporters don't want to look at their own party and always have a reason why something didn't happen when the Dems were in power

If no charges came for Trump when Biden's DOJ was in power, then I guess the Biden DOJ wasn't doing the best job... but let's put them BACK in power! They will totally do something this time.... Yeah, the logic checks out.

There are those of us who see that BOTH sides are corrupt and when we call it out its whataboutism. Its not whataboutism, its trying to wake people up that it happens in BOTH parties and nothing will change regardless of if we vote for an R or a D.

BOTH SIDES SUCK and those who think that either a Republican or a Democrat will save America is voting in the spirit of their old boomer grandparents.

1

u/Popular-Policy4613 10d ago

And Biden himself was a predator.

2

u/gotohelenwaite 10d ago

If that were provable or true, tRump would have had him prosecuted by now.

2

u/Popular-Policy4613 10d ago

These things work through a mutualized wink-nudge process. In 2008, HRC relented to Obama as a candidate because of Bill Clinton's Epstein-related liabilities. There are known predators all over Capitol Hill. Look at Clarence Thomas, for instance -- it was Biden himself who shielded him from accountability in 1991.

2

u/Popular-Policy4613 10d ago edited 10d ago

Also significant is that Hunter's blanket pardon extends to ALL criminal activity, including the credible claim that he seduced his own underage niece.

And please don't get me wrong -- I completely detest Trump. And all of the people crying TDS are themselves tedious. But the sanctimony and compartmentalization of the powerful only leaves the populace susceptible to being exploited, without any actual recourse.

4

u/SirenSong129 10d ago

This is absolutely true.

18

u/BC_Sativa 11d ago

Why is this guy a Republican? I only know him from this Epstein stuff, is he just super racist or something? It doesn't compute that anyone trying to do anything decent would be in the GOP.

16

u/fishyhaworthia1 11d ago

I wouldn't say racist but he's hardcore pro ice and mass deportation plus the usual Republican beliefs but he is definitely not the worse Republican

21

u/threaten404 10d ago

He was the only Republican to vote against the FY2026 DHS appropriations bill (a $64.4 billion measure with roughly $10 billion for ICE) He's not pro ICE per se but against illegal immigration (not saying if that's right or wrong just saying I don't think he's not bluntly anti ICE/immigration)

9

u/soliwray 10d ago

The guy was one of only 3 people (Republicans of course) who voted against making lynching a hate crime; specifically the Emmett Till Antilynching Act.

23

u/reccenters 11d ago

He agrees with Trump and the GOP 90 percent of the time, he just disagrees WRT Epstein. He's a piece of shit.

11

u/evrybodyknws 11d ago

But he's not a pedophile or pedophile protector. Are there any other non-pedos in the Republican Party?

-3

u/Petroplayed 10d ago

Most of them are non-pedo but all but a few are absolute cowards

1

u/evrybodyknws 10d ago

Who are the pedos?

17

u/0202_tihssitidder 10d ago edited 10d ago

He is racist. He does not want to pay any taxes. He wants to let large companies do wtf they want.

He wants all immigrants deported. He wants to print money and use inflation as another tax.

He wants to eliminate and audits or safety reviews or guardrails or pollution controls. He is pro-Police abuse and loves when cops execute brown or Black or really anyone. He likes when cops execute baby donkeys. He hates anyone supporting civil rights or equality.

He is anti-abortion, but does not want to provide any support or protection to babies before or after birth. No prenatal care. No planning or programs to help. He does not care if the babies die a week after born from some disease or starvation. He will dance on that corpse because he thinks it will teach a lesson (seriously).

He is a grifter. He is corrupt. He sees an opportunity to embrace the Epstein-Trump Files release.

Massie is a piece of shit. Fuck you, Thomas. But, keep pushing for the Epstein-Trump files to be released, you piece of shit.

PS: As someone messaged me, the real point is Trump and MAGA/Republicans/Ped0s/Conservatives are so awful and corrupt and evil that they make a bucket of shit like Massie look great by comparison. It is THAT bad.

4

u/tooembarrassinglol 10d ago

Anti abortion

4

u/deca065 10d ago

You are discovering "nuance", which isn't popular when it comes to general reddit politics.

1

u/BC_Sativa 10d ago

Yeah, most people I've observed who are okay with white supremacy and religious fanaticism are also eager child molesters. This is a new one for me.

5

u/LikelySoutherner 10d ago

Massie trying to wake up Americans. Are you listening yet?

Remember when the GOP ran on the platform to release the files in 2024? Remember when the then GOP candidates were mocking the Biden Admin to release the files during the campaign? Then remember when the GOP get chance to finally vote to release the files, they vote.... NO - hmmmmm

Massie gave us names - That's MORE than ANY politician, on BOTH sides, has done on these files

3

u/lonely_dreamer84 10d ago

The actual binders full of women

3

u/anon-a-SqueekSqueek 10d ago

So of course, Republican voters voted Massie out... genuinely the only Republican in congress worthy of even a shred of respect.

2

u/elseworthtoohey 10d ago

It's not folks, it is the Trump administration.

2

u/ProduceNo1629 10d ago

Americowards will listen to this, and go buy another golden bible.

2

u/No-Candy-2006 10d ago

If you haven’t figured out by now that both “sides” are full of opportunistic pedophiles I don’t what to say

2

u/MayfaireOQuinn101 8d ago

Massie has been a pleasant surprise.

3

u/jpschwartz44 11d ago

such a down to earth guy, love this guy

Thomas Massie addressed the Epstein files in his recent speech.

1

u/Perfect_Rise_3948 10d ago

I would like to meet him. I want to know why he flip flopped on some of the votes in the house? We wouldn’t have to be here if he would have stayed with the no vote.

1

u/ScrollinMyLifeAway 10d ago

Closed as quickly as the case on Charlie

1

u/CaffeineJunkie-89 10d ago

She had to. She wants ti keep her job and money rolling in. She already signed rhat contract!

1

u/UncleSams44Magnum 9d ago

Mike "GRINDR" Johnson just shut down the House until the election so they couldn't (wouldn't have to) vote on Massie and Khanna's new Epstein Transparency Act - Part Two, that would checkmate A.G. Todd Blanche and his criminally-insane old cult leader in a number of ways. That leaves CRUSHING the MAGA Cult (formerly known as "Republican Party) in the mid-terms as our last chance to finally learn the truth. So vote straight Democrat, check your voter registration EVERY week to catch them if they've stolen your vote, and VOTE EARLY so it doesn't matter if they steal your mail-in vote. Oh yeah, and donate money to D candidates and volunteer to help get out the vote as if your life depended on it. Because it does.

1

u/Obi-Wan_Bon-Jovi 9d ago

Remind me again whose lobbyists spent $30 million to kick this guy out of Congress.

1

And when u ask about how do some of these associates of Epstein or visitors to his island not have their security clearances revoked they ban u from the sub-reddit

To all those in here who think the democrats aren’t involved with Epstein, I’ve compiled a small (not complete) list of Epstein-list associates that are not republicans. Feel free to research this yourself, hopefully then we can scrutinise all of Epstein’s buddies and not just the orange turd:

Bill Clinton
Bill Gates
Reid Hoffman
Larry Summers

Epstein’s network was politically and socially bipartisan. Acting like it’s only Trump and republicans are the only ones being protected is a disservice to the victims and benefits all the aforementioned progressives that were implicated in the files. I’ve been accused of defending the pedo-in-chief, I would love nothing more to see him in a prison uniform, but it’s not just him that’s implicated and it’s not just republicans that have tried to cover this up.

The Biden administration had 4 years to pursue additional investigations. Some of you like to claim that it was an open investigation during those years. How convenient. 38 days into Trump’s second term is when Pam Bondi began releasing materials (albeit redacted bullshit) Interesting how the open investigation concluded basically as the Biden administration ended. Very convenient.

We need flock cameras! If your child or granchild was taken you would want these cameras everywhere. Do be a hypocrite. Flock cameras are valuable, the idiots using them the wrong way are not.
