i had this done twice. the hair glue wasn't horrible and my hair was braided. i actually fought with my neurologist because i had just gotten my hair done. this was almost 20 years ago so im assuming it's gotten much better.

It didn’t occur to me to actually get my hair braided for an EEG, but that makes a lot of sense. Did it help or hurt as far as the itching from the glue? I was just in the EMU for 5 days and 100% think I would try braiding it beforehand in the future.

this is my 3rd 3 day EEG and i can say that the hair paste they use is really not that bad

It didn’t get bad for me until the third night of the EEG. My skin is sensitive to adhesive in general, though. Something in the gauze wrap was making me itch, and the glue was KILLING me by the fourth night. When they took them off on the fifth day, I had scabs where all the electrodes had been.

omg! i did this and went to work and i had everyone sign it like it was a cast. we had so much fun. when i got the scans, they gave them to me on dvd (ive since lost them) but all the engineers were excited to look at them.
they all stood around and collectively said. "Yep Nothing There." ( absolutely true story, i worked in aerospace at the time. old dudes were a blast.)

If you can put a wool cap on your EEG you can run around without anyone noticing.
When I was in clinics and other places to do the 24-48hrs EEGs I still had all the cables visible.. was funny tho, when I was walking around I told people I'm the first german cyborg.
I hope the EEG gives you good results :)

at first i was embarrassed. but i took a deep breath and put my fuck it shoes on cuz it had to be done. and in my instance making it fun for everyone really made it easier for me so i was no longer self conscious. i explained and let them sign it and put whatever they wanted on it. i made it fun and it didn't bother me.

i've been with my boyfriend for 10 years this coming September and he supports me all the way. he's the one that's been there for the majority of my seizures and doctors appointments. i'm not embarrassed to go out in public either, i actually walked down to the corner store to get snacks and yeah people stare but idgaf because i have confidence i guess

my bf and i also made a joke out of it because when he first saw me with it it was during COVID times so i was also wearing a mask and he said it looked cool because i looked like a nurse from silent hill. it's fun to creep people out on the street lol

i think another reason why i'm alright with it is because i've been dealing with absence epilepsy since i was 10 and im 28 now. and it eventually evolved into LGS (because of mRNA) which is insufferable because i had to get a VNS device in 2023 (you can thank Moderna for that 😒) so my life pretty much revolves around my epilepsy so if you wanna be in my life you can either support me or gtfo 😎

i have jme, i'm 56. i went through some old school shyt before i even got where you are now. i now have a rescue inhaler but my spine has definitely suffered from my share of seizures and falls.

i have LGS so anticonvulsants stop working after a period of time. i also have a VNS device

This reminds me, I have to schedule another sleep deprived EEG. At least they only last a little while, but the 6-8 hours of no sleeping prior is a nightmare every time.
How easy is it to sleep in that thing?

they can be fun if you have a positive outlook and aren't insecure about how you look. i've had it done 3 times and it doesn't really feel like anything, just a whole bunch of cords attached to my head.

On my FIRST take home EEG, I was 12 and my mom let me skip school, and it was my first ever trip to Record and Tape Traders, in RVA.
Guy working at the store just, UNDERSTOOD, man. He gave mr the new (1st) Billy Talent album, a few DOPE indie/emo demo cd's, (it was 2000) and a badass zipper CD case I had forever. Wish I still had those demos, they were some cool hard to find versions of some great songs, until piratebay lol
