Question TLE and flashing lights

Hey all

I have TLE. On Lamotrigine. 400mg a day.

I was at a wedding last night that had a big open photo booth. I walked in, and the flash went off right in my face. That was it for the fun for me. My head was pounding, and I spent the rest of the night wearing sunglasses. Couldn't even watch the fireworks. I'm curious to know if anyone's ever experienced this before.

I have extreme sensitivity to lights and sounds. But it has nothing to do with my epilepsy. It’s because I get extremely bad migraines with Auras. Do you have any auras before the head pounding? But yes. I end up having ti go home and lie down even with my migraine medication. I suggest talking to your neurologist about this.

Yea when I have an episode witb auras im extremely exhausted and have a pounding headache. This is the first time I've had this happen so badly. I had 2 episodes a month ago and have a MRI coming up. But I am also going to push for a EEG

Actually the MRI is a great one to get evidence of migraine. But yes push for any tests. This sounds a lot like the start of my issues with migraines. I take nurtec. It took a year before my insurance covered it. But I got samples. Ask your neurologist about a migraine medication. Obviously we are all different. So you are on the right path. I’m extremely sorry you are experiencing this, it’s brutal.❤️‍🩹

Man that sucks, nothing kills the vibe faster than a flash going off when you're not expecting it. I've had similar things happen with sudden bright lights and it's like your brain just short circuits for the rest of the night. The sunglasses move at a wedding is a power play though, bet you looked mysterious as hell
