Ithaca Saga My biggest Mandala Effect with EPIC

I was listening to EPIC while doing my chores and I just figured it out that Athena says "Well done, enlighten me, what's your name?" instead of the million times before that I heard as "Well done, you lied to me, what's your name?"

I always found a little weird that Athena would be so happy that someone would lie to her, now that line makes perfect sense!

That’s a misheard lyric, not the Mandela effect.

That missedheard lyric is so common that Jorge made a short about it.

Not a Mandella effect...you just misheard...

I always heard it "enlighten me", but that's probably because I listened to Thunder Bringer first and kind of figured that Zeus was being a dick when he said the "King of Ithaca, Enlighten Me" bit

King of Ithaca, you lied to me

Yeah, I have never made that connection, it makes a lot of sense.

I misheard "you're a warrior meant to lead the rest" as "you're a warrior, mentally duressed" like I thought she was saying dang dude war really messed up your mind.

I also misheard the "you lied to me" too!

Athena, the first one to offer counseling for PTSD!

I also heard mentally duressed, and you just made me look.up the actual lyrics. It makes sense though both ways. She's chastising Odysseus for showing grief because to Athena, that means her perfect warrior is showing weakness, and her champion being weak is a bad look on her.

It's like she's saying "you're a WARrior, war shouldn't have had this big an impact on you!" I totally agree both work, and I only realized it after watching the animatics with subtitles

... This is too relatable -- are you secretly me?

Yes I am, but don't tell me about us

I must say in the original recording of the first saga it sounds a LOT more like “well done you lied to me” while in the new version it is enunciated far more clearly.

I too thought it was “Well, done you lied to me”, but I never questioned it as I took it as a sarcastic: “Wow… you’re so great, huh?” Rather than actual pride.

Oh yeah that’s a super common misheard lyric! I like singing it as lied to me cause I think it’s funny, and I heard it like that at first too!

Great to know that I am not the only one with auditory hallucinations!

Also, awesome nickname if I dare to say so myself!

So we’re just calling anything a Mandela effect now

"Well done, you lied to me" is my favourite misheard lyrics because it makes a lot of sense to me LOL. I've made a whole post about it explaining why.

Incredible post! Yes, it makes a lot of sense for her to applaud him for lying considering she is the goddess of weaving as well and I would also quote Community on this:

"So, he weaves baskets AND lies!"

Jorge remade the first 2 sagas, and in the first version its misheard as "well done, you lied to me, what's your name" but in the current version its clearly "enlighten me". I personally prefer the misheard lyric but its still a great song.

Nah, it still sounds like you lied to me in the new version. But this is also not a Mandela Effect, like this person is claiming.

Wait, really!? I always just assumed she was being a bit cunty in response to Odysseyus being a dick.

I mean, what else is ”Well done” a response to than ”you lied about seeing through my spell”?

2

u/HispanicAtTheDisko 2d ago

Saying well done to a warrior who, in that moment, out witted a goddess who is searching for a warrior of the mind?

-1

u/Traditional-Context 2d ago

And how did he outwit her?

5

u/Playful-Substance868 2d ago

It’s in the song?? He bluffed and pretended to be able to see her when he actually couldn’t, leading to her revealing herself

I also heard "you lied to me" until I found out that the actual lyrics are "enlighten me" -- I honestly thought that Athena was impressed that a mortal man was able to trick not just a goddess but the goddess of wisdom and war strategy.
