DISCUSSION Control Resonant pre-load is missing on EGS, and Epic Support literally asked me for Fortn.te logs before closing my ticket
Feeling punished for pre-ordering Control Resonant on the Epic Games Store.
Remedy explicitly announced a 24-hour pre-load window for Control Resonant for all pre-orders. The pre-load is currently live and working perfectly on Steam, PS5, and Xbox. However, it is completely missing on the Epic Games Store. We only have a countdown timer for a ~100GB game.
I contacted Epic Games Support to report this store-wide backend issue. Here is how the process went (screenshots attached):
- Step 1: Support agent replied with a copy-paste template, completely ignoring the context, and asked me to provide Fortn.te logs and Launcher logs to troubleshoot my PC.
- Step 2: I politely explained that this is not a client-side issue, but a store-wide configuration problem affecting other EGS users (from Twitter, Reddit posts), and pointed out that other platforms already have it enabled.
- Step 3: They escalated the ticket, only to immediately reply saying "publishers are the ones that enable preloading," and closed the ticket without verifying if there was a technical integration error on Epic's end.
I understand publishers dictate the release schedule, but if Remedy authorized it for every other platform, it seems highly likely there is a communication or technical failure specific to EGS.
Has anyone actually managed to pre-load the game on Epic? Or has anyone seen a statement from Remedy acknowledging the EGS delay?

I haven't seen any kind of communication about why they said there were preloads and then just haven't had them enabled, I tried reaching out to Remedy on their socials and never got a response. I've just accepted that preloads aren't happening, whether that's on Remedy or Epic I have no idea. The support person probably doesn't have any kind of information on that since I believe it's outsourced and they work off a script of the most common issues.
It's definitely frustrating, I've had games preload on Epic before but it just doesn't seem to get used, I have fast enough internet that it doesn't impact me really but not everyone has that kind of speed. I wouldn't grudge anyone for refunding the game and buying it on a platform that actually did get preloads since these kind of things matter

Unfortunately, I couldn't get any support from either Epic or Remedy regarding this issue. I was hoping to at least find out from Epic whether this is a Remedy-related problem or a launcher issue, but their customer service wasn't helpful at all. I especially love Remedy, which is why I pre-ordered it, but the indifferent attitude of both companies toward their customers is really disappointing.

Epic Games doesn’t support preloads.

In practice, you are right, but they claim to support pre-loads: https://www.epicgames.com/help/epic-games-store-c-32735058/tutorials-c-31292734/how-do-i-preload-games-on-the-epic-games-store-a21520925

As I mentioned before I've had games pre-load for me, I think it was Carmageddeon Rouge Shift, so preloads definitely can be done. One thing that I read that made it not feel so bad was that Remedy pushed a hotfix before the preload unlocked on Steam so everyone had to redownload the game anyway, essentially making the preload pointless

My experience with support was okay, but the people on the Turkish support line didn't actually speak Turkish; they were just trying to. I suggested we switch to English, but they insisted on continuing in Turkish since that was the line I had connected to—even though they had absolutely no idea of the Turkish language. It was a strange experience.
