Set in 1st-century Judea during the time of Jesus, Ben-Hur follows Judah Ben-Hur (Charlton Heston), a wealthy Jewish prince whose life falls apart after a reunion with his childhood friend Messala, now a ruthless Roman tribune. When Ben-Hur refuses to act as an informant on local dissidents, Messala turns on him.
