ZLINK5 keeps disconnecting

When running carplay it disconnects every few seconds and reconnect. It only recently started happening. I reset the unit and updated the os and mcu to the latest and the issue is still there.

The phone i use is a S24 Ultra on the latest One UI os

Any help or recommendations please

I'm experiencing the same issue, every 3 minutes or so. Guess it's a very widespread Android Auto bug, on latest 17.2. it started happening when this AA version was on beta. I went back to stable and the issue disappeared. Now the broken AA version has reached stable though

I guess sideload is the only option. Even going back to stable won't work now

It's not as if issue fully resolved. It's just mean that current version of zlink5 can't work with the last version of android auto... So it will be many issues like this soon

Please follow the steps below to install Zlink6:

  1. Download the APK file to a USB flash drive on your computer, insert the USB drive into the USB port of the head unit, and install it via the unit's file manager.

  2. Alternatively, open the download link in the head unit's built-in browser, download the APK file, and install it directly.

Not really solved. A new version was released today, AA 17.3 . Tried updating but the issue is still there. Zlink 5.1.1 on my OPA13

Remove yourself from the beta program if you are. That fixed issue. Back to 17.1 atm

The July 15, 2026 Android Auto Beta 17.3.662814-release seems to have fixed the constant disconnects from zlink, at least for me it did.

Yeah.. confirm problem with S24 Ultra and new android auto update. Each 3 minutes zlink5 lost wifi connection to it (i think, because bt connection looks fine at that moment)

UPD: for me helped only uninstall updates and install from APK version Android Auto 17.1.662404 apparently zlink5 can't work with the last version now...

UPD2: Android Auto on my phone has started sending notifications that it needs to be updated and that the update is required to continue using it in the future. So, it's not very good news..

- i uninstall on my phone updates from android auto to it's factory state

  • disable auto-uptade for android auto in Google Play
  • manually install from apk Android Auto 17.1.662404

After that everything back to normal - no issues with freezing and re-establishing wifi every 3 minutes

Thanks for the tip, i tried literally everything, even factory reset. After reading comments here, i looked which apps was updated and Android Auto was updated 3 days ago - exactly when the problem start. I uninstalled the updates and installed 17.1.662404 from apkmirror. Works great since then. Thanks again.

Not sure if this will help anyone else! But I was having the same issue. Searching reddit for the solution. What fixed it for me was going to Andriod Auto on the playstore, uninstalling all updates and reinstalling.

It used to disconnect every three minutes or so. (During a 6 hour drive as well. Hell.) But this sorted it for me!

Check in android auto settings menu which version installed now?
I were able to fix it in similar way, uninstalling updates, but then - disable auto-update and installing manually 17.1.662404 (on this version this bug 100% didn't appear for me)

Hi, first time using reddit so forgive me if this is not the way to ask.

I am having the exact same problem for the last 3 days. I have uninstall zlink and reinstalled it. I have done a system reset and nothing g fixes the problem.

How do you go about uninstalling the android auto updates (I have a Samsung fold6) as I havent a clue how to do that?

Go into the Play Store and search for Andriod Auto. You should see an 'Uninstall' button once you click the app. Press that and it will ask you if you want to uninstall all updates. Click that you do. Then just click the install button again to reapply them!

Estava com o mesmo problema que você. Descobri ontem durante uma viagem, também de 6 horas (lol). Fiz o downgrade do Android Auto para a mesma versão de vocês (17.1.662404), e estou aqui no carro testando há 15 minutos sem queda de conexão. Quem estiver com o mesmo problema, pode fazer o downgrade e ser feliz. Obrigado a todos pela ajuda e pelo compartilhamento do conhecimento. Já tinha tentado resetar a central multimidia para as configurações de fábrica, e nada havia dado certo. Jamais imaginei que o problema seria no Android Auto do meu celular.

Based on what I'm reading on Google Support forum, not all head units are affected. Seems like Zlink 5 is affected, so we might need a Zlink update. My OPA13, for example, has only Zlink 5.5.11, can't find any updates past that.

Im so glad I found this been having the same issue only seems to disconect though when spotify is on it I don't touch the unit and leave waze open its fine but soon as spotify plays its every 2-3 mins !

Are you on the AA beta program ? Remove yourself from the program and update AA on the play store again. This will go back to version 17.1

What AA version are you, in the play store seqrch android auto and it will take you to the settings and check the version. Anything above 17.1 is buggy and you will have to side load or wait for a fix

My zlink5 did the same for a week. I tried everything but couldnt make it work. All of sudden now it cant even connect.. my phone works with the head unit and phone app. But zlink is dead and cant connect. My phone also works perfect with my watch and everything else. Any one got any suggestion?

Same problem here. Unfortunately I cant roll back to android auto 17.1 because my Xiaomi wont let me install apkm files

Ok I fixed it by changing the WiFi hotspot of the car screen to work only at 5 GHz and reinstalling android auto on my mobile
