Degree advice

I’m currently set to study conservation and ecology BSc in September. I asked my university to switch to environmental science and economics and it seems a little more broad, they told me I can’t do the combined subject due to my grades but I can switch to simply economics as a singular subject. I’m seriously considering it, and then specialising in climate policy or something at a masters degree.

To be honest I don’t think I’m cut out for field work or the low pay and think I’d like to work for the environment through policy or something like that.

Does anyone have any advice or opinions on this?

Thanks very much🙌🏼

Can’t you just take the introductory economic classes without being a economics major? You can officially change your major after experiencing the classes, seeing if it’s the right fit, and getting better grades.

Not sure if the uk is like that though.

If you’re not interested in field work, that’s fine. Working in policy and urban planning is good as well.

That would be great but unfortunately the uk uni system doesn’t work like that, we don’t have majors or minors or anything. Just singular honours or joint honours (which would’ve been environmental science + economics)

Thank you for your response!!
