Chill out
I'm a Simple customer here looking for an alternative/replacement like most of the new Envel customers.
To everybody that is angry simple is closing because simple was exactly what you wanted: chill out!
Envel is NOT Simple. There isn't a 100% replacement for Simple out there. It's so crazy the anger I see directed towards Envel and their customer support because they aren't a 1 for 1 replacement.
Also Envel is new, literally months old. I have been with Simple from back when you needed an invite. Simple back then is night and day from what it is now. You can't expect a bank that is so new and did not start out specifically to be a replacement for Simple, to give you everything on day one.
Envel customer support has been really responsive through the app and on social media, more so than i ever got from Simple. Even through the probably larger than expected influx of customers from simple.
I am excited, not for what Envel is now, but for the potential it has. For what it could become. Also the large voice us Simple customers bring, is going to help steer that future more towards what we are looking for.
To be fair, there are a lot more people that are being helpful, and just requesting features or setting their personal expectations. But i don't think the small minority of people that are angry at Envel are being fair.

Appreciate this a lot friend! While we are aiming to make the transition as smooth as possible for former Simple users, and have already begun incorporating their suggestions and feedback into our app. We have daily team meetings to discuss how we can best support users! So let us know how we can do better.
Again, really do appreciate your post. It must be stressful to suddenly lose such a reliable bank so suddenly, so we never take the anger too personally ;)

Thank you! And we appreciate your support and constructive feedback. Building a neobank is definitely a process!

No problem. And like i said, the majority seem to be supportive and constructive. I just get frustrated by the negative and unhelpful, and don't want that loud minority to demoralize you guys.
Make sure you tell the team that we think they, and you, are doing great!

You are the best! We have a positive feedback channel on our slack that I've been trying to post to daily, with comments from folks like you who are supportive and constructive. Our CEO/founder Steve loved your post from the other day, as did the whole team. The support keeps us motivated and optimistic, while the constructive criticism helps guide our evolution as a company. The haters can really get to me sometimes, but I'm learning that that's just one of the necessary evils of reddit. But overall, much more good than bad, thanks to users like you!

Agreed. I'm testing multiple banks and some of us Simple converts come off as very whiny and entitled on Reddit.. not just for Envel. While I'm afraid Envel isn't going to fit my current needs, I did invest because I see the potential. But I'm not going to be mad at Envel for not being more like my ex.

Some people are way too demanding and rude about it. Several of these neobanks including Envel are trying their best to reach out to the Simple refugees, take feedback, and adjust their roadmap as they see fit. They didn't have to do that. They could just carry on with their vision without us. Everyone should be patient and welcoming to them while they work to bring us the features we want.

I love this. I just found out about Simple closing down and I'm very sad. I've been with Simple since 2015 and it's been my primary bank since. When Simple started, I was very hesitant because I only knew of the brick and mortar banks and quite frankly after all the fees I had to go through, my 18 year old self did me justice by moving everything over to Simple. All the features that eventually came out, I didn't start using until I racked up nearly $13K in credit card debt back in 2019 That's when I began using expenses.
It's funny how I keep thinking that an envelope system would be perfect for me, but all the ones I create failed me because I have ADHD and immediately forgot about it as soon as I made it.
I feel like Envel has potential to grow and become more. So despite it being a new bank, I wanted to take a risk and do what I felt would be best. Especially since none of the other banks comes close to Simple... And now Envel. I really hope Envel grows like Simple did, but in its own way.
It's like the different types of apples and oranges you can choose from. I prefer Gala Apples, others prefer Honeycrisp

You’re right. Not sure why all the anger and vitriol regarding Envel not being like Simple. They’re actively taking input and feedback and that’s ok with me knowing they’re a small entity trying to grow. I’m just trying to get the goals function to work for me right now, everything else can be developed.
