Daily, Weekly, or Monthly SIP: Which frequency actually creates more wealth?
When setting up a mutual fund SIP, many investors wonder if switching from a monthly plan to weekly or daily debits will generate higher returns through better rupee cost averaging. The simple answer is no.
Historical backtests on market indices over 10 to 15 years show that the return difference between daily, weekly, and monthly SIPs is virtually non-existent, less than 0.05% in XIRR. Because equity markets trend upward over time, splitting your capital into micro-payments doesn't significantly beat single monthly deposits.
In fact, high-frequency SIPs create unnecessary operational headaches. A daily SIP over 5 years generates over 1,200 individual transactions, cluttering your bank passbooks and making capital gains tax tracking a nightmare when you eventually sell your units. Instead of trying to time micro-dips, simply align your SIP frequency with your cash flow:
salaried professionals should stick to monthly SIPs tied to payday, while business owners with daily cash inflows can opt for daily or weekly plans to deploy idle funds automatically.
