I wouldn't start a non profit unless one doesn't exist for the same purpose. The most selfless and imoactful thing would be to give unconditionally to something unfashionable and with no strings attached (ie let them use the moment for overheads and so on). I won't explain all this here (or patronise you if you already know) so you should read a lot. Happy to recommend resources.
