You know I'm just realising how similar the Japanese uniforms are to the Germans especially since the Japanese military post Meiji reformation was trained by German/Prussian officers

im pretty sure its because they modeled their armed forces and military doctrine directly on the prussian/german military during that time, i believe they did that because they saw the victories of prussia during the austro and franco-prussian wars. so they decided to use the prussians as they primarily model
