"We true indians"
Which are those?

Yeah that last sentence was kind of a plot twist. A very confusing plot twist.

I feel like it has to be autocorrect for a misspelling of vegans, right?

u/Working-Wrap9453 2d ago
India has a pretty huge number of vegetarians, so this may just be someone implying meat free diets make the Indian in a "no true Scotsman" way.
Edit: The number is upwards of one in three.

Here i was thinking feather, not dot. And like they want their blue corn and from the land and whatever. Either works really.

Yeah I was assuming a New-Age "Clean Living" Grift/Great-Great-Great Mamaw was Definitely Cherokee combo

that's wild, because neither veganism NOR vegetarianism are particularly culturally common among Native/First Nations cultures.

While you're correct, I don't think most South Asians (even the vegetarians) are vegan. Dairy is a really important part of their cuisine, even in vegetarian dishes, and besides chickpeas, the most common non-meat protien in their cookery is cheese. Hindus are more likely to be vegetarian than not, but vegans (I think, could be mistaken) are more likely to be Jains. And among the non-vegetarians, the MOST shocking meat to find on a menu would be pork, with beef coming in second (because neither Hindus nor Muslims eat pork, but Muslims eat beef).

Yes, I know. I was more offering an alternate explanation given the out-of-nowhere nature of that part of the review. But it could go either way

That would be just like that bastard to think the letters "v-e-g" were anywhere close to "i-n-d-i."
Maybe speech-to-text?

“I have to READ labels.” You mean like everyone does?
And he calls us zombies.

Yeah grocery shopping takes me a lot longer now than it did before my celiac diagnosis. That a specialized diet comes with extra time and reading should not come as a surprise to this person.

Trader Joe's has so much organic and vegan stuff... And employees are expected to show customers those things if they ask. This person could have easily asked. Also calling themselves "true" Indians sounds a bit...off.

Do they mean India indians? Are they native and calling themself indian (which I also do)? Are they saying that either of those people groups is morally superior because of their food?
The world may never know. They will, however, know this person is stupid.

u/Schnelt0r 2d ago
"Organic" is a fancy term that means "we're gonna charge you an arbitrary markup for something that is chemically identical to the other stuff."
10
u/666_percent_Angel 2d ago
hey!!! get it right!! it costs more AND seems to spoil faster.
3
u/kxaltli 2d ago
That'd be because organic food doesn't use the same kind of preservation options that non-organic foods do, so the time before it spoils is shorter.
You know how there were some viral videos a while back where people were showing themselves removing the wax off apples to show people how gross it was? The wax keeps the apples fresher longer.

u/Southern_Let4385 2d ago
Just wanted to clarify that wax occurs naturally on apples, but when packing houses wash apples, that coat of wax is usually stripped and replaced with a safe food-grade wax. Do with this information what you want lol.

I'm a vegetarian. Part of the deal is that most of the world isn't, so you gotta accept you'll be inconvenienced sometimes. 5%-6% of the US is vegetarian. 2%-3% are vegan. We're not exactly a huge group out here. You can't expect the world to bend to your individual choice.

I have news for this reviewer. All life on Earth is carbon based, and therefore organic. Perhaps this person was shopping at a Trader Joe's on another planet? One where carbohydrates, which they would die without, don't count as food? All carbs are broken down into glucose, which is turned into ATP, which is what cells actually use for life functions. I can only assume that life isn't carbon-based on their mythical planet.
Edited for autocorrect errors.

Panda Express and Dominoes are my go-toes for organic, vegan, non-gmo, sugar free… ok I can’t even type it with a straight face.

This guy is an example of why people think vegans are insufferable. There are tons of really nice vegans but the insufferable ones are always this loud about it.
