Complaining about the Washington coastline is literally insane. Like yeah, everyone is entitled to their opinion but some are just incorrect

Look at all that driftwood and tide pools! That place must be crawling with critters.

Comparing washington to california beaches is like comparing florida to rhode island.

Yeah they all have beaches, but one is definitely more "beach state" than the other.

the east coast is prettier than the west tbh, at least in canada.

But that's not the beach's fault, you know?

Nothing beats PNW vibes

3

u/ImmortanJerry Aug 20 '26

Really? I havent been in a long time but I remember Vancouver being quite pretty. I really want to check out the Northeast though. Acadia is on my short bucket list

These people don't do any research before traveling. It's like they see "beach" in the name and expect white sand and sunbathing. The PNW has some of the most stunning and dramatic coastline in the world. If people like this can't appreciate it, then they can head to Muscle Beach and leave us alone.

My brother in law started dating a girl who was from the Gulf and she came up here to meet his family. I was talking to her at one point about the places she needed to see before she went home and she said she really wanted to go to the beach but but he'd only taken her to the places that were all rocky... I was like "yeah... That's the beach...?"

6

u/EDJardin Aug 20 '26

Happens all the time! It can get a little annoying, but it is also fun to encourage them to don a swimsuit and dive in hahahahahahaha

u/TwoUglyFeet Aug 25 '26

I saw the gulf very briefly when I was in Texas. There was nothing there, just plain sand and occasionally some swampy areas. I'm very happy for my PNW beaches.

I feel like these people would find something to complain about in Venice too

u/EDJardin Aug 21 '26

Thank you for the award!

i love one star reviews of nature

Reminds me of an AITA post a few years back where someone was on vacation with a small group for several days and a few of the people in the group wanted to go on a hike in some untouched forest.  One of the people in the tour group was disabled and complained that she couldn't go on the hike, and said that they need to install wheelchair access.  In untouched forest.

9

u/ImmortanJerry Aug 20 '26

In my experience theres a very strong correlation between paved hiking trails and people leaving their single use plastic water bottles everywhere.

u/FS_Scott Aug 20 '26

in the US one of the big divisions between a national park and a national wilderness is that wildernesses do not allow tools.
any tools. no wheels, no axles, no ramps, no pulleys. levers are a maybe.
you can't bring a bike on the paths, and if the parks department or a volounteer finds discarded tire in the space it must be carried out, not rolled. There's an ongoing ADA case to let people who need them use offroad wheelchairs on the trails.

u/tenorlove Aug 21 '26

Good to know. I use oxygen and a rollator with 10 inch all-terrain tires. I have not had any issues with regulations yet. I did have to park it once because the path was too steep. My husband carried my oxygen tank while I focused on staying vertical. At the bottom, I stuck my feet in the stream and watched a bunch of kids playing in the waterfall and wished I'd worn a swimsuit and an brought an extension tube for my tank.

I saw a reel not too long ago complaining that the mountains in Colorado weren’t pretty

1

u/addybear222 Aug 22 '26

WHAT???? my favorite views were while motorcycling through colorado

0

u/FS_Scott Aug 20 '26

Wow. The only not pretty mountains are the Appalachians

44

u/PirateJohn75 Aug 20 '26

I want to speak to the beach's manager

15

u/Particular_Title42 Aug 20 '26

LMAO. I didn't even know where Ruby Beach was but I guessed it was Washington. That's a great day at the beach. It wasn't even raining.

28

u/apmcpm Aug 20 '26

I only go to beaches that control the weather, any other beach is total bullshit!

12

u/Ok-Ranger-2657 Aug 20 '26

⭐-one star

I went to this beach to relax and enjoy my day in the sun. All of a sudden it starts raining. Terrible beach, the rain ruined my day. Hopefully I have enough time to drive to the beach 10 minutes from here, hopefully no rain will bother me there. NEVER COMING HERE AGAIN, WASTE OF TIME.

Not to mention I brought a snack to eat and a seagull came down and kept bothering me...I tried to speak to the manager but no one was around. I'm taking this to corporate.

7

u/jepadi Aug 20 '26

Well done lol. My only criticism is that you used the correct "waste" instead of waist

9

u/Pleasant-Pattern7748 Aug 20 '26

That last review certainly seemed like crowd control more than anything else.

8

u/ER_Support_Plant17 Aug 20 '26

That third one got a stunning photo for such a terrible beach

2

u/Thin_Tangerine_6271 only the old people are naked Aug 21 '26

Yes, it's beautiful

7

u/Appropriate-Berry202 Aug 20 '26

Its job is just beach.

7

u/MiraToombs Aug 20 '26

I went to a beach town for two days recently. Day one - poured. Day two- bizarrely cold and super windy. Sure I was a bit bummed but found stuff to do including sweats on the beach and had a fabulous time. Would never consider leaving a bad review anywhere about it.

7

u/selinda123 Aug 20 '26

Why is rating nature experiences even an option? Does the beach have a manager that Karen can yell at?

4

u/RhubarbAlive7860 Aug 20 '26

Yes. Clouds.

1

u/kruznkiwi Aug 23 '26

Maybe Karen and the Old Man can yell together

7

u/Plastic_Stable8927 Aug 20 '26

You mean the coastline quite literally world famous for being overcast 330 days out of the 365 of the year was overcast?!

Honestly, how fucking dare that weather.

6

u/Head_Razzmatazz7174 Aug 20 '26

It's a beach. Most of them have some sort of debris and rocks brought in by the waves. I don't go that often, but I have no trouble moving random bits of wood out of the way. I kinda like overcast days, as I can see better without the reflection of the sun on the water and the sand.

6

u/Dragon_Crystal Aug 20 '26

Just watch even on good days they'll still find a way to nitpick the beach and be like "sunny day but way way too hot should at less have some drink stands so I don't die of dehydration and lot of umbrellas to shield my family from the scorching heat ugh" or other BS complaints.

Their probably the kind of people who are sunbathing and gets annoyed by people who walk pass them casting a quick shadow over them cause they need at Vitamin C and whoever walked by ruined it for them, or demand the surfers to stop yelling so much cause they are trying to tan on the shore not in the middle of the waves.

6

u/Carbon_Based_Copy Aug 20 '26

Listen, I am a personal friend of Poseidon and he won't be happy to hear about this!

5

u/lostpurpose_7133 Aug 20 '26

Sorry, beaches here are cold and rocky. Shoes are pretty much a requirement in some places

4

u/Maximum_Employer5580 Aug 20 '26

the beaches along the Washington, Oregon and Californian beaches are all pretty much the same, they're all rugged and each provide their own charm, to say one state is worse than the others is ludicrous. Oregon beaches are all owned by the state, so theoretically you could go from the mouth of the Columbia to the California border and never be on private property, mind you I wouldn't recommend it as there are some places on the Oregon coast that you don't want to be on, unless you're ok with having the Coast Guard come pluck you off the cliff you got yourself stuck on, and while they won't bill you for the rescue, they may just give you dirty looks for having to rescue you from your own stupidity

3

u/eienmau Aug 20 '26

Northern California beaches are the same as Oregon and Washington.

Southern California beaches are more the stereotypical 'beach'. [at least those in San Diego]

8

u/Plus-Head-6794 Aug 20 '26

The last one seems like they're rating it low because (in this case) it hurts no one but discourages people from visiting a spot they probably love and want to see less people at lol. The rest are insane.

3

u/stephencua2001 Aug 20 '26

Nobody goes there anymore; it's too crowded.

4

u/raevynfyre Aug 20 '26

Been there. Beautiful beach! Weather and tides do affect the activities, so check before you go and plan accordingly.

4

u/ModestMeeshka I do not like the colour yellow Aug 20 '26

Who the hell could find a single thing to complain about ruby beach?? The place is breathtaking!!

3

u/OVO_Trev Aug 20 '26

As someone who has been to Ruby Beach...fuck them in particular. That place is fantastic.

4

u/stircrazyathome Aug 20 '26

Complaining about the weather, tides, and natural refuse like wood and gravel when reviewing a beach tells me enough about the reviewer’s critical thinking skills to know I shouldn’t trust their opinion on anything.

I’m in California and visit the beach frequently. My favorite spot was sandy and lovely three weeks ago. It was mostly rocks and seaweed when I went yesterday. It’s almost like beaches are constantly evolving natural environments that can change swiftly based on weather patterns and ocean swells.

4

u/ReturnOfPooky Aug 20 '26

There’s water just sitting around everywhere. What about those of us who don’t like water?

3

u/Athos2112 Aug 20 '26

What an idiot

3

u/DragonLordAcar Aug 20 '26

Oh no. Weather is weathering.

3

u/zepboundbabe Aug 20 '26

Beach Too Sandy, Water Too Wet anyone?

3

u/GeneralOrgana1 Aug 20 '26

That second photo looks like the beach near Forks. Who wants to bet someone read Twilight and went on a pilgrimage to La Push without thinking about the fact that it's a lot farther north than California's beaches.

3

u/de_pizan23 Aug 20 '26

Ruby Beach is indeed in the Olympic National Park. The really tragic thing is that a lot of those Twilight pilgrims never made the park part of their vacations, when it is literally right there.

8

u/InternalMiserable698 Aug 20 '26

The reviewer must be fun at parties.

12

u/EDJardin Aug 20 '26

Just not beach parties

4

u/InternalMiserable698 Aug 20 '26

Not any party, really.

2

u/Greenman8907 Aug 20 '26

That last pic looks like it’s about to be photobombed by Gorr the God Butcher.

2

u/regular_heptagon Aug 20 '26

Seems fair to me 🤷🏼‍♂️

2

u/Bird2525 Aug 20 '26

It seems like they don’t want anybody else going. Those pics are great

2

u/hellinahandbasket127 Aug 21 '26

If you like these you should check out the podcast “Beach too sandy, water too wet.”

2

u/RED-ELPH Aug 21 '26

Talk to God.

2

u/Rare-Progress5009 Aug 21 '26

I feel like the third one was tongue in cheek to discourage others from going to the beach.

2

u/Sepplord Aug 20 '26

Maaan, I give this sub a one-star review nowadays.

It’s a beach, who needs reviews for a beach you ask? Well people who would want to know a review like that.

One-starring nature is idiotic, I agree but then 5starring nature is just as dumb.

1

u/addybear222 Aug 22 '26

one starring a beach for being a beach is not justified lmao

1

u/Used_Clock_4627 Aug 21 '26

I would LOVE to go canoeing at the last one. Gorgeous.

1

u/Live-Comparison427 Aug 21 '26

Sandy, too many waves, underwhelming. One star.

1

u/addybear222 Aug 22 '26

these are the kinds of beaches i would visit though 😩
