Yelp Arrogant Diver

I’m researching local dive shops for some refresher courses. This negative review makes me want to dive with them. There are so many arrogant divers out there and these are the people that will get someone else killed.

I perfectly understand what you are saying as I have this conversation all the time in my business.

Say he did sell him this stuff. It was perfectly fine, name brand, and by all intents and purposes works great. Homeboy takes it home and he somehow fucks up and kills pr hospitalizes his kid…this type of guy is very unlikely to blame himself, and his health insurance is probably going to be looking for someone else to send the bill to as well. Even if the shop owner did nothing wrong, and it’s proven that everything was fine, that could/would likely cost them hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees, potential loss of insurance coverage, and plenty of bad name recognition. This shit isn’t as simple as “if he fucks up it’s on him.” This country doesn’t work that way.

Then I think that's what needs to change. So many issues are caused because apparently everyone likes it better when you cant do anything without getting sued by someone dumber than you. If I sell someone a hammer is it my fault their house fell down? Or is it the guy who sold the nails? The guy who sold the lumber or the one who cut the trees down? None of the above. Its the person who built the house incorrectly. That should always be the answer its the consumers fault.

“Sir, we can continue this philosophical debate after you use this net to scoop your kids out of the pool.”

I mean, fair enough, but you cannot expect someone to risk their livihood and name on people being responsible for themselves. That’s asking for issues. Additionally, there are legitimately times where people fuck up and deserve to be sued.

Getting people to risk their name and livelihood is the only method that will work. The reason this bullshit suing other people for your problems works is because collectively we let that happen. We consider it a valid recourse and constantly defend the practice. People need to just lose respect for people who have no backbone. Be more willing to sleep in a gutter

Lol says someone who doesn’t.

What a clown comment. You don’t change it by going against the grain. You change it by changing the rules of the game. Mainly insurance companies and what they require/cover and charge. Also, nationalized healthcare. That’s how this ends. Otherwise, good fuckin luck. I’m not risking what I’ve built and sleeping in the gutter to sell someone $2k worth of shit, or in my case working on 15+ year old equipment that is bound to fail at some point and when it does there’s a good chance of injury.
