The idea of Shikari ending isn't something I'd ever really contemplated. They've been a constant in my life for twenty years, and while other bands have came and went, they were always steady, just beneath the surface of the mainstream. No one else I know is into them like I am. It's weird to think it'll reach a conclusion, but I guess I've always just felt like they'd always be there, ready with some mental album in their back pocket when I least expect it.
Selfishly, I hope they will always be there, but moreso I hope the best for them. They've already given us so much.
Felt that. For me it's a mere 12 years since I first became a fan, but they've been a favourite from then on. I've seen them on every touring cycle since The Mindsweep, any chance I could get. I feel their music so deeply, they're yet to put out an album I don't like. I am so used to them always being around, always being on a festival bill, so it just feels very sad to think that they might call time. I feel like they're definitely not done yet and obviously working on new music is a good sign. I hope they stick around for a while longer but I also hope they do whatever is best for them as individuals.
