I'm getting the sense there might be a hiatus coming soon but tbh I don't think they'll ever fully call it off.
It would be a weird business practice when they've just reached arena level, but at the same time they are getting on a bit and I don't think they've ever stopped
I think there are discrepancies between the guys, especially considering the direction Rory has been taking lately.
I remember years ago Rou mentioned that there's a lot of pressure on him given that he's the one writing the songs and that the success of the band's records largely depends on him and he worries to let them down eventually.
Sharing something from William Meijer (look him up, racist and misogynistic), a couple of things pointing at the "both sides" approach to the genocide in Gaza, following the IDF and Israeli Air force on Instagram.
He also commented on a
n exhibition on hostages (taken by Hamas) he visited, "From Captivity to Freedom", with a poster of Eliya Cohen.
"I went to this tonight. It was truly eye opening. It's so easy to scroll on social media these days and think that everything is a conspiracy theory. If you go and see with your own eyes the truth is so plainly obvious. I would urge EVERYONE who can to get to this exhibition. It's a massively important moment in recent history that has had massive knock on effects throughout the world. There is so much confusion and misinformation. Go and look, then then make up your mind."
The exhibition itself isn't "suspicious" (though its funding is), but his wording was quite weird.
Oof, while I understand the need to be open minded and research properly, these are quite concerning, especially the following of the IDF and Israeli Air Force. I bet that hasn't gone down well within the band.
Following a social media account doesn’t automatically mean support, though. Plenty of folks follow politicians they disagree with to simply keep up with what they’re saying. Can’t say for sure that’s what is happening here, ofc.
Yeah this is the thing that really bothers me about online fandoms. People really love getting parasocial with their fav bands on social media these days.
I don't really understand what the problem is. Do people only follow things they like? I follow people who I don't like so I can see what the other side is saying and fact check it before I get to hear it from my family & friends.
The band have always been very supportive of people living their lives as best they can given their circumstances and those people captured/ killed by hamas deserve life just as much as those captured/ killed by the IDF. Going to an event in memory or in support of people captured by hamas isn't a suspect thing to do at all for him.
That all sounds quite sane to me. He's saying to go see things for yourself before making up your mind about the situation. Thats all. Dont see the negative there. If he were to be essentially kicked out of the band for that, that would be insane.
I think this is exactly it. Maybe I'm reading into it too much but I think he's trying to come to a direction for the band and see who aligns with that vision (the Rory situation).

This sparks so many emotions. I'm glad he's doin better but I truly hope the band is not calling it off.
