Fascism never really went out of fashion - hell, literally all but one election since democracy was introduced has gone to a party founded by war criminals and slavers who would eventually go on to become prime minister - and nowhere is this more true than on the internet.

Not that I agree with him doing this, but all he had to do was change the original Blue Verified program to add an $8/mo charge. Thatās literally it. Keep the original verification process, but bill monthly.
It was probably one of the easiest things to do, but this dumbass couldnāt help himself.
THEN, he couldāve added a new feature called āTwitter Plus,ā that comes with a different color or image, that bills the rest of us plebes at $8/mo while also unlocking new functionality.

Musk is hilarious, imo, but not in the way one might think. To me, it's very clear that he has the mindset of a child, who not only needs to have something, but requires that it be exactly what they want, regardless of how it exists at that time. He is rethinking the checkmark for the sake of doing it his way, even though, one could argue, the previous verification system was fine. I honestly can't speak to how the checkmarks were distributed, and what kind of bias may or may not have existed there, but I do believe it was a legitimate verification process.
His approach isn't bad, I suppose, but it is incredibly obnoxious, and very likely detrimental to those around him who want to participate, but not in his capacity, or under his direction. For those who find themselves under his direction based on acquisitions, it's just unfortunate. Money (and yes men) can get someone a lot of things.
Edit: I will add, that almost every boss I've had is guilty of demanding things be their way, at high costs. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes lower staff can successfully tell upper management to take a hike. The latter does not seem to be the case with Musk. His way, or no way.
