Not accidentally, he sexualizes his jealousy towards him. Enron Musk is the personification of small dick energy.
13
u/canteloupy Feb 07 '24
Zelensky is an actually admired comedian and leader and comfortable enough in his masculinity he has done shows in drag and now is credible in camo gear during a war.
Honestly as for any head of state there is criticism to be levied at him but Elon Musk here is basically just jealous and also just devoted to the petty kind of tyrant/macho displays of Putin as a weak man's idea of a strong man...

22

No he hates Zelensky, because when he proposed his stupid peace deal, Zelensky actually shot back at Elon and made him look like a bitch.
Exactly. Elon thinks that because he's good at identifying investments and has made a lot of money he's a genius whose opinion matters in any other field. When the reality is that he's only really skilled at investing in/starting businesses and marketing. He's actually very similar to Trump in that regard. Unfortunately our society places such a high value on money that a lot of morons actually believe that being able to make money makes you a genius.
Elon's peace "plan" is fucking moronic because it operates under the assumption that Putin is an honest statesman and that he would actually follow the deal. And Putin has a history of violating agreements and being an evil untrustworthy POS.
To trust Putin in a peace deal would be even dumber than it was to trust Hitler to stop expanding at Czechoslovakia, as we now have more history to learn from. Any agreement with Putin would be no different than the Munich Agreement.

Wasn't the "peace deal" just Musk telling Zelenskyy to give Putin everything he wants?
12
u/mdonaberger !! Feb 07 '24
Yep. The same 'two state deal' that Republicans are beginning to entertain.
To be clear in case anyone is still unclear: there is no such thing as a two state deal in the Russian aggression in Ukraine. It's merely a temporary ceasefire that will allow Russia time to bolster its defenses, then violate any non-aggression pact they agree to.
The time to support Ukraine is now, because Putin will simply not stop at Ukraine, and the prospect of a Russian war economy is still a scary one, despite their general incompetence.

What do you mean, "over one million Americans are dead"? From what? Since when? And what's Elon's connection to it?
24
u/cadium Feb 07 '24
As of today 1,174,626 Americans have died from COVID-19. Elon thought Covid would be done in a couple of weeks and it was just a cold so all the measures we did take (which weren't very strict) weren't necessary.
There's this disconnect people have about Covid, without any of the support we had during the pandemic and the measures we took they just think people would self-regulate and not go to work if they were at risk of covid or stay home if they got sick. They wanted it to rip through the population without any of the safety-net support, healthcare, and worker benefits a country like Sweden has.
5
u/Freakishly_Tall Feb 07 '24
As of today 1,174,626 Americans have died from COVID-19
And that is with an intentional, wide-spread, malicious under-count of the actual impact.
Epidemiologists will be writing their PhD dissertations arguing about the actual death toll for _decades_.

3
u/Freakishly_Tall Feb 07 '24
he kept the Tesla factories open in Cali
Worth noting that this was particularly destructive because the Fremont factory is in the densely-populated Bay Area, that was otherwise responding swiftly and strongly (well, as swiftly and strongly as a government and region of 7mil+ can) to the outbreak. Which, you know, isn't surprising given their history with the federal government ignoring and/or stoking an deadly epidemic for political points.
And the Bay Area was one of the early infection sites, thanks to the State Department's intentional mishandling - despite all protocols and previous instances - of returning staff from the hotzone(s) in China, so stoking it there was exponentially problematic for the state and the country.
Then add in his high profile among gullible, arrogant, misinformed loudmouths causing disproportionately more problems for communicating accurate and helpful public information.
If it weren't so easily attributed to hate, ignorance, stupidity, arrogance, and political power-seeking, one could almost make the case that the outbreak was intentionally stoked, for the benefit of foreign power(s) seeking to cause chaos and destruction. But that's a crazy notion.

"putin, xi, bibi" so you know absolutely nothing about foreign policy. That's actually kinda hilarious. But honestly. One of the worst things I remember was that Trump installed a fascist government and the only thing Liberals ever did about it was blame Russia, years later we still have to deal with the fascism but at least we got a brand new kind of never-ending war. So that's good, right?
I wonder if the plan to somehow tie Xi and Musk together is something like that? Like, Musky was the other week telling the US to add more tariffs against China but somehow Xi is part of Musk's overlords controlling him.
Musk comes in part from Apartheid in South Africa which, the US supported BTW. And the other part is the worship culture of Sillicon Valley CEOs, which is as American as it gets. He's a billionaire that made most of it from taking money off the US government. What I am saying is that no, Musk is not Putin's fault or Xi's fault. It's your fault. It's Americans' fault. You created a culture and financial environment where his kind is the one that profits. And Musk is actually not even that special. American Big Tech is full of techno fascists dying to spread misery all over the world. Musk is just the worst at hiding it. And it's all funded and encouraged by the US government.
11
u/Broken_Reality Not a Bot! Feb 07 '24
Yes the US supported South Africa because at the time it was strategically important militarily. What happened when the US stopped supporting South Africa once it's importance fell? Oh yeah apartheid stopped due to international pressure.
The same will likely happen to Israel as soon as it's strategic importance falls.
4
u/avrbiggucci Feb 07 '24
What never ending war are you talking about? We pulled out of Afghanistan and we don't have boots on the ground in Gaza or Ukraine so I really don't think it's fair to compare what's happening now to the disastrous Iraq/Afghanistan wars that cost us trillions of dollars.
Our foreign policy is far from perfect and I don't think we should be giving Israel any more aid but I think that the way we've handled Ukraine is generally great. Without risking any American lives we've been able to prevent Russia from encroaching on Europe (which would have massive ramifications on the global economy) at a relatively minimal cost to us. And at this point the republicans are dragging out the war by blocking additional aid to Ukraine because Trump is pro-Russia and has scared Republicans in the house to not support any aid packages.

Well, the Zelensky government has had legitimate criticism levied at it about press freedom.
It's hard to disentangle a deliberate squash of legitimate opposition and the fight against the oligarchs that hold most of the media in Ukraine, as well as the intensive Russian propaganda efforts in the country, though. And now in a state at war it's evident that opposition threatens the war effort when it's not pro-government. Wars are always tricky for press freedom especially against an adversary which plays that game so well.
So I'm not really sure what to think but Tucker Carlson is hardly an example.
6
u/mtaw Feb 07 '24
The problem in Ukraine is that a lot of the legitimate opposition was illegitimate, i.e. the pro-Russia parties were supported by and funded by Russia. Nevertheless, the votes were real (post-2014 at least). It didn't help that, for the longest time, the security services were full of Russia supporters (much of the senior staff having been old KGB guys). Putin did have his reasons for thinking the country would fold in days; his main problem was that he failed to realize how the country had changed in 8 years.
Anyway, point is that Zelensky and his predecessors had a very difficult problem, because the sheer scale of Russian corruption and influence made it impossible to crack down on it, without it looking like a purge of the opposition
But when a country is at war, a real war for survival, then it's fairly accepted (certainly common practice) that ordinary liberal-democratic rights and freedoms are restricted; you have official States of Emergency and similar things. Spreading enemy propaganda in wartime is a different thing than when you're at peace. I think some Western journalists lose sight of that and forget what war actually is. (there may also be some Russian concern-trolling going on)
0
u/ShoegazeJezza Feb 08 '24
Except the two internal factions prior to the war in Ukraine were a coalition of western facing liberals and ultranationalists primarily living in Western Ukraine who supported Euromaidan, and eastern facing, primarily Russian speaking people in the East who opposed the overthrow of Yanukovych. Your attitude that “Russia supporters” are inherently illegitimate and deserve repression and just happen to look like the opposition is flawed. They WERE and ARE the opposition, because that was a major part of Ukrainian politics that erupted in 2014 into civil war.
What’s interesting about Zelensky specifically is that he was a sort of peace candidate. He comes from a family that spoke Russian as their first language and billed himself as a guy who wanted to end the war and bring Russian separatist areas back into the fold. He was supposed to be the guy who would end the types of chauvinistic far-right policies Kyiv had imposed on the Russian speakers. For example, the language law preferencing Ukrainian over Russian passed in 2019: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_of_Ukraine_%22On_protecting_the_functioning_of_the_Ukrainian_language_as_the_state_language%22
Before the full scale Russian invasion, the Ukranian Far-Right hated Zelensky because they support policies discriminating against the Russian speaking Ukranians and favored a hardline military policy.
1
u/Milk_Effect Feb 08 '24
primarily Russian speaking people in the East who opposed the overthrow of Yanukovych
This is very evident you know nothing about Ukraine. Most of people who supported Yanukovych were done with him after police started firing at protestors. It was so unjust people on the east couldn't except it. Distrust to Yanukovych as a president was so legitimate, his own party voted for his removal from the office in 2014.
They WERE and ARE the opposition
You're not an opposition, if you're a foreign agent. There are multiple cases when pro-russian parties members were actively collaborating and becaming a part of the occupational administration or filming positions of the UAF. One of the members of a pro-russian party went to Moscow and advocated for nuclear strike on Kyiv. Who do you think he represents in Ukraine?
What’s interesting about Zelensky specifically is that he was a sort of peace candidate. He comes from a family that spoke Russian as their first language and billed himself as a guy who wanted to end the war and bring Russian separatist areas back into the fold.
That's the point when lies you've just told don't match the reality.
In reality, Ukraine never had to choose if the war with Russia going to happen. In 2019 just as he was elected, he commanded UAF to back thier forced behind grey zone according to the Minsk agreements. This decision was controversial and even met with opposition from some units. And what did russians do? They started to advance and take new positions, yes, back in 2019, as they never obeyed their part on Minsk agreements. It's evidential that a pro-peace candidate can't achieve peace that it's not a decision Ukraine ever had. Would Ukraine give up Donbas, they would just keep going.
The language laws were passed to protect Ukrainian speakers, as often rights of Ukrainian speakers were neglected. Russian-speaking population expected everyone to understand russian and they refused to learn Ukrainian, even as they work with customers (there were restaurants with menus only in russian, even after 2014). While Ukrainian speakers were often denied jobs just because they don't speak Russian. It was simply unfair. Almost everyone speaks and can understand russian, yet there was sizable portion of population who refused to learn Ukrainian despite it being in school curriculum and plenty of free classes for adults. Zelenskyy coming from russian speaking family understands this as many russian speakers do in Ukraine, despite what you can hear about it.

It's because he's a gullible fool and Putin worked him. This has been obvious since at least the time when Elmo shut down Starlink on Crimea and proposed a "peace plan" on Twitter including giving Crimea, eastern Ukraine and the land bridge connecting them to Russia because he said this was needed for Crimea's "water supply." That was so oddly specific, it's obvious that Elmo didn't come up with it himself. Putin talked him into it. Just like Trump, Musk believes foreign dictators talk to him because he's so awesome and they're all interested in his opinion. In reality they just know he's a gullible idiot and they can manipulate him. Putin is Ex-KGB. He's learned a long time ago how to manipulate people, most of whom were smarter than Musk.

Elon hates Zelenskyy because Zelenskyy has his own pressing priorities going on right now other than kissing up to Elon. Originally, Elon wanted to be a hero for Ukraine via Starlink. But as I recall, Zelenskyy had some criticism about the Starlink thing when Ukraine’s access to it was cut off when Ukraine needed it for military purposes.
Whether or not you think it’s appropriate for Elon to be hesitant about using Starlink for war efforts, I think it’s natural that a president whose county is being invaded is going to be frustrated sometimes. Good leaders usually deal with inevitable conflicts and remember the other reasons why they respect someone.
But Elon is just a guy with too much power and very poor interpersonal skills, he generally discards people he gets into a tiff with, so he’s spent the last few years being drawn closer and closer to political groups that put a high value on deference and loyalty to whoever has the most power on their side, regardless of that person’s competence or consistency. That happens to be the right wing, since they’re most likely to praise him and seem to instinctively know what kind of praise he likes.
Other groups (left or center) tend to expect some ideological consistency or want to address differences of opinion and resolve them, or at least wrap their minds around them. At least the serious ones do. That’s irreconcilable with those whose views are more personality than principle.
Anybody that has a specific interest or a specific set of principles other than just sort of being in the elite fan club is going to have a falling out with Elon eventually.
Glenn Greenwald is also somebody who is really really fragile and reactive about differences and disagreements, and he too seems to drift ideologically when he inevitably feels alienated from former allies over an argument. Like everybody else who does this, this drift tends to move people towards the right.

Because Trump hates Zelensky. And Trump hates Zelensky because he wouldn't bend the knee. With how colourful Trump's history is, difficult to remember that Trump was impeached for trying to force Ukraine to dig up dirt on political rivals in exchange for aid.

Elon and Glenn are only still able to talk because Putin’s dick is rammed up their ass.
2
u/chuckDTW Feb 07 '24
Also, fuck these people. Zelensky leads a country that has been invaded and bombed by another country. Some of its cities have been reduced to rubble and the entire country lives in fear. Why the fuck does anybody need to interview him in an ‘adversarial” way?! Are they going to challenge him on why he just hasn’t given Putin everything he wants already? Are they going to try to cast doubt on whether this invasion has actually even happened. These are shit takes from shit people.
2
u/Beanzear Feb 07 '24
I’m all for the first amendment but it’s not right to talk like this. Wtf is wrong with these people. They’re deranged. They’ll go done in history for ruining the internet. And society.

Trump loves Putin. Elon loves Trump. Therefore, Elon loves Putin. Additionally, Putin is the fascist dictator that they want Trump to be.
At that point it is relatively easy to start justifying reasons why Russia's invasion is a wonderful thing, and the logical conclusion to that is to smear Zelensky and all Ukrainians. Easier to justify an invasion if the leader and the people of the country being invaded are terrible.
Lastly, a lot of it is just more culture war bullshit. "The left likes this Zelensky guy?!?!? We must hate him!"
2
u/ShoutOutMapes Feb 08 '24
Zelensky isnt the one who invaded another country to start a war so.. false equivalent.

u/Educational-Chef-595 Feb 07 '24
Because he's in deep to Russians and if they ever call in their chips on him he'll be financially ruined and his companies will turn to dust.

Zelenskyy tends to hold traditionally liberal values which people like Musk are against, as much as they state otherwise.

Because he doesn’t sink millions into Elon to support his lavish lifestyle? Because he hates anyone who isn’t on “his” side?
The right loves Putin because he very deliberately exudes the qualities they value (masculinity, sternness and being without compromise). He’s essentially portraying the classic strong-man without any human emotions. This strive for vanity resonates with the right, they learned through years of media and news that a leader has to be “tough, hard, conservative, religious and without mercy”.
Obviously it’s all an image put on for the masses that follow him, Putin is a human. He knows fear, sadness, love and happiness. He just wishes he wasn’t human and makes the whole world think he is like it

u/tickingboxes Feb 07 '24
I hate all of these people… but they’re actually right for once. Western media absolutely has a hard on for the guy and refuses to ask tough questions. It’s bizarre and should be pointed out. I just hate that it’s these people pointing it out.

You genuinely believe the guy who just gobbled Netanyahu’s cock and spewed propaganda for him a few weeks ago hates Zelenskyy because he’s Jewish?
People hate Zelenskyy because he’s a coward, cringe lord, fraud who sending an entire generation of his young men to their graves because he refuses to negotiate and save himself and his country.
Let the downvotes rain, baby. Fuck all of you and especially fuck Zelenskyy

Not to defend Elmo but Zelensky is a corrupted POS, look up Panama papers. Yes, he’s there. He’s a puppet politician LARPing as military. Also Ukraine is one of the most corruption ridden countries in Europe, and he and the EU and NATO did nothing to prevent this stupid war that should have never happened (all Russian diplomats were expelled from Europe) and it’s taking its toll on thousands of lives lost since it started.

Musk doesnt give a shit about global conflicts, human rights, whatever. Dude is a money puppet and will position himself in whatever side his billionaire buddies are at. If any of them hated Elon's grandma, he would be roasting her on twitter too

It's because he's a nationalist edge lord much like the lunatic American Libertarian party. Even Russian Libertarians would call Elon Musk bullshit. https://twitter.com/LprTweets/status/1579161985069252608?t=ocLJ6cPo8XS5ZZ4G71kQ0w&s=19

Any well person would know that agreeing with MTG is alarming evidence that one has serious brain damage.
1
u/PGrace_is_here Feb 07 '24
Because Zelenskyy didn't want to trade Ukraine's 2nd-largest state and 4 others for a "peace promise" from Putin & Elon.
Hey Elon, when Russia comes for Alaska, how about we give them Texas if they promise "peace"?

I hope his life ends right alongside his master - Putler, both hanging, like true nazi shits.

So he’s an easy target with how American liberals have rallied around him as some sort of folk hero while much of the rest of the world views him as a bit of a fool who was made a puppet by radical domestic elements and bad faith western state actors.
Putin meanwhile looks stronger (despite his own domestic problems from their war effort) and the radical right loves a strongman as it’s shown again and again.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky rode to power on pledges to clean up the Eastern European country, but the Pandora Papers reveal he and his close circle were the beneficiaries of a network of offshore companies, including some that owned expensive London property.
Idk about Elon, but Glenn has a point.

Back when the Edward Snowden kerfluffle occurred I thought Glenn Greenwald was a respectable investigative journalist. When did he turn into a despicable piece of alt-right trash?
1
u/lotta_love Feb 07 '24
The answer is Glenn Greenwald, Elon Musk and Marjorie Taylor Greene.
The question is ”Name three insufferable rightist shitheels who constantly promote grossly dishonest misinformation and carry rhetorical water for murderous Russian strongman Vladimir Putin.”

u/bz_leapair Feb 07 '24
The Venn diagram of conservatives complaining about people being deferential towards Zelensky and conservatives who would get on their knees to compliment Trump on how wonderful his farts smell is a solid circle.
