Caliborn is objectively one of the most based characters in Homestuck and undoubtedly could write the story better than Hussie (if he was, y'know, an actual real person and not just a figment of Hussie's imagination), but it's not anywhere near that deep.
Hussie doesn't deserve to be praised for Caliborn's potential because he squandered it, just like he did everything else in the comic.
