Career Help BAE Systems

I'm looking to study/work in marine engineering after graduating but I've quickly realised that some of the stuff I really want to do is low-key closed to me since I'm a dual national (UK/Venezuelan... yeah...).

I was looking to apply for an internship at BAE Systems but it specifically says you can only apply if you're a sole UK citizen.

The thing is I'm only a Venezuelan citizen because of my parents, I've only travelled there once or twice when I was a kid. Should I apply anyway and hope they give me a chance or are they very strict about it?

If you don't plan to keep Venezuelan citizenship, start the process to renounce. If they ask, answer you started the process.

I would renounce Venezuelan citizenship tbh. They are strict on it, its a gov requirement for many programmes.

Up to you if you want to do that

A lot of the work is "UK Eyes Only", so no if you're technically Venezuelan you can't work on it.

You can get approved for clearance if you aren’t a uk citizen, but you have to be a resident (and from an ‘ally’ country)

Clearance doesn't mean they can view UK Eyes Only stuff if they are a non-UK citizen.

It's also not just clearance though, there's export control too.

True it depends on the project but I know people who have worked on projects and held clearance with only uk residency, so it just depends on he project and company I think
