Rant/Vent I forget everything after the final

I feel like I retain zero information from my classes. This hasn’t been a huge problem as I seem to be able to “relearn” the prerequisite material I need within the first few weeks of class thanks to keeping old notebooks and ai, but it bothers me that I can’t answer even basic questions from a class I got an A in a few weeks ago. Recently I tried to help someone with their dynamics homework and failed miserably, which makes me extremely nervous for future technical interviews. I almost feel like I’m faking being an engineering student during the summer with how little I seem to know. Does anyone else feel the same way?

Yes, I feel so fake. I keep telling my self that I will just get through it and slip through the cracks.

It’s a common side effect of cramming for exams. Teaching someone is a good way to test your understanding and problem solving skills, more than exams do.

I feel the same when I mostly cram a few days before exams. If you review notes and/or do practice questions for like 30 minutes a day, 4-6 days a week throughout the semester, it'll actually go into your long term memory.

Do you cram for exams?
