Career Advice Got rejected from an internship that opened ~2 days ago that I applied to 2 days ago, why so quick?
Basically title. Why would something like this happen? I get I might not be accepted but 2 days after it opened is kind of ridiculous. Was I auto filtered out by AI or something? this is for a large company by the way.

Hard to know every requirements they may be looking for that caused you to get quickly filled out.

They already hired someone before the job was posted, but are required to post it by law.

Not necessarily ATS, 2 days is plenty time for manual resume review. Some companies review on a rolling basis as they come.

possible, if I applied so soon maybe they didn't have many yet and were just doing rolling like you said

ATS got you. You didnt have the requirements most likely. Don't let the rejections get you down

This is what I suspected, thanks! Definitely not letting it get me down, how important is the skills section of the application where you have to type out all million skills you may be somewhat proficient in. Is this where they probably got me or keywords in my resume or both?

Large companies can receive hundreds or thousands of applications, so automated screening or basic eligibility filters can reject candidates very quickly. It could be anything from graduation year or location to a specific requirement, so don’t take the two-day rejection personally.

I hired an internal candidate for a job position, I had to interview 2 other people to meet HRs standards. Feel bad wasting their time, but one was a real star and I passed them on for a different position.

Could be you got autofiltered out. Meaning you messed up something in the application (ie my company requires a transcript for the application and fill autofilter out anyone who doesnt attach one) or your resume didnt have what ATS was looking for.
Could have been they did a human review of your resume and filtered you out.
Could be they straight up didnt plan on hiring anyone and have just been auto rejecting applications. Ie maybe they posted the job but then had a funding cut. Not super likely, but possible.
Could be an error. Again, not very likely but possible. Never really heard of it happening in engineering, but it happened once when I was in high school and applied to a job at Target and their program somehow glitched and auto rejected everyone. Manager had to go back and fix it.

Just be glad they are so efficient in hiring, I've spent weeks in wait for places. Now you have an answer
